I think this is the same type of call I received yesterday I just couldnt understand where they were calling from but the number is from California. My question is since they have our social security numbers how are we safe? If we file complaints, which I did today how does that protect us???

I'm also getting a call and their saying that my name, social security # and home address is under investagation for a legal case. Their calling from a number in Texs but when they leave a voicemail its a NJ #. I haven't returned any calls or spoken to anyone, they even called my job asking to speak to me . What am I to do? I know I haven't done anything wrong but these calls are getting out of hand, I live in the state of Florida what should I do? Please help, these calls come @ least 3 times a day

All you can do is ignore the calls.

I also got a call 347-289-3905, Charles Smith, who had thick Indian accent. He left a message saying I had to call back and that it was veryserious and that he could not give any more information over voicemail, but that I had committed federal offense.

Hello, today I received a call from Jessica Brown and Jason James, both with extremely heavy accents, threatening to call my job and inform them of my debt. I have not taken out any $300 cash advance. I have made a complain with Michigan's Attoney General (even though they are in Anaheim, California). And since they are claiming to be a Federal Agency by using the name U. S. Legal Investigation Department, I've filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

They are a fraud, but becare. They had my banking information from somewhere. So they're getting better.

This is a scam. When the company contacts you, ask the following questions:

What is your company's licensed operating name?
What is your company's licensed address and phone number?

If they claim to be an attorney, ask them where they are licensed to practice law and request their bar number.

If this is the first time they have contacted you, request verification of debt from them. (You will need to submit this request in writing to them at the address they provide you - make sure it is valid)

If the information they supply you with only appears on 800notes.com, there is a strong likelihood it is a scam. I know for a FACT that this is a scam.

I got the same call. Everything that you guys are saying were similar. The only difference with mine was it's a California number (714) 459-2353. When I spoke with him and he said he's calling from the U.S. Legal Investigation Department, I informed him that I work with the United States Attorneys Office for the Southern District of New York, and that the United States does not have a Legal Investigation Department. He was of course silent. Then I added that the federal/state government has no jurisdiction to matters involving credit defaults. I told him the only authority that has jurisdiction in such matters is a court of law through the proper filing and service of a summons and complaint. I made it clear to him that his number is recorded and a complaint will be filed against his fraudulent scheme with the United States Attorneys Office, not the New York Attorney General, mainly because he called me from a different state.

Since the U.S. Attorney General has oversight of the FBI, let's see what they'll do about it.

This is another number from a "John Smith" I have never met anyone with a middle eastern accent that was named John smith,l.m.a.o..... The number that he is calling from is 1-772-497-0095....He is claiming to be an officer of the court and threatening legal action,blah,blah,blah..I believe that it is a Florida Phone number...These people have some balls,I'll give them that,but they are breaking several laws....

I'm in Alabama they started calling me a couple of weeks ago - very rude "Mr. John Anderson" they use a different name each time they call.

The last two days i have had a guy call me with a American name( Jimmy Holt's or Hopes) not sure with his accents. he is claiming that my sister has missed payments for a on-line loan. he claims to be from the US Legal Investigation Department. when he leaves a message he is ever upset sounding, and there is alot of other sounds in the background. The last message i got from him said: victoria when you get this message immediately inform ****** ( not giving her name) and have her contact us at 772-647-3804. then he also told me that if i don't inform her of these message that he would have to proceed with the courts and that i would also be help accountable for her on-line loan that she missed payments on. he told me that ***** used her SSN# and my name and phone number as a reference... the whole is is funny because even if ***** got a loan all the loan company or legal company's can do is try to contact me for her. i can't legally be help responsible for what she does.... Also she has never got a on-line loan ever...

It is now the same scam only it officer Kevin Murphy. Thick accent and they have called me 6 times in the past six months and called my boyfriend as well. I hope we have posted enough that no one ever fall victim to them. Please spread the word to any and everyone that they are doing this because next it could be one of your friends or family. They told me they were going to send a team to drag me out of my house in front of my children and I would loose everything I had ever worked for. I hate this and wish they could be stopped. First of to be a dept, don't you need to be under some sort of organization. He tells me that there is a lawsuit from some payday loan company, couldnt tell me exactly. I say send me something in writing and he says they tried to email me, I advised that in my state there has to be a notice sent and I am given 60 days to respond. I have been getting calls from US Legal Investigation Department from a guy (Officer Sanderson) that also sounds from India. They have been harassing me for weeks. I've called them and they come with interesting things to say or either can't answer my questions at all. So, I decided to look them up this morning to see if they are real and came across this blog. Well..they are not gone. They now call themselves United States Legal Investigation Department. The number they are calling from is 052-797-815. Yes, this is not a traceable number because it is not 10 digits. The idiot that called me numerous times was Ahkmed and he was calling about a family member of mine. I was not very pleasant with this individual and he could give me a straight answer so i ended the call and he became upset as he called me 3 more times, but, i didn't answer. The family member he was calling about called them back and said she owed on a loan which she never took out. Be Careful..

I too got a call from here from Officer James Cameron (yes the film director). This guy had a heavy middle eastern accent and said I was going to jail if I did not pay money I owed to cash net. I did a long long time ago have a loan with Cash Net USA, but they were long since paid off, and are an actual licensed lender in my state. "Officer" Cameron called from 810-671-586, an obvious fake #, or over seas #, funny thing is he told me he was located in Teral City, TX, but said could not give me an address (ok cause you dont know where texas is lol). I had fun just messing with the guy, because I know they cant come take me to jail, and I know for a fact I do not owe on any more loans, and I have the paperwork to prove it. He did claim he was from the United States Legal Investigation Department, I told him to pick a more beliveable title next time he tried to scam someone. LOL please do not give your information to these idiots, they will argue with, you and try to sound scary, but dont fall for it, they dont care wether you pay it or not, for every one person who knows its a scam, five people probably pay, or give them there account info for them to sell. Know your rights and ask questions!!! if they are a ligitamate company they should have no problem giving you answers to questions you have the right to ask!

I have been receiving voicemail and phone calls. He calls himself John Smith now, with his very thick Middle Eastern accent. Says he is with Allen Mackey Law Firm. Same phone numbers (520) 303-0534 and (727) 242-5421. He is looking for my ex wife and is saying the same thing, legal action, etc... I have told him about 10 times she doesn't live here. He just keeps calling. I will be filing a complaint with the FTC. To whomever posted doing that, with the number, thank you.

These idiots called me on several occassions. Today I talked to them to see what they wanted. I was told that I'm being sued over a payday loan. I asked when this supposedly loan was taken out and all I recieved was a bunch of double talk. They do not realize that I am an ex police officer and know that they are trying to scam me. Call thier bluff and tell them to send someone to your door. Just make sure you have the FBI or state police there when they show up so they can be arrested. Don't tell that just set up a time and place to make a payment in person with them and then contact the authorities.
Chances are they will not show up. All they want is for you to give them your account numbers so they can clean out your account. DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM!!!!

These people are obviously buying information from legitimate collection firms that you might have dealt with.

For example - I have a pre-paid phone - number is not listed anywhere - yet they knew my phone number as well as my employer number.

They have harrassed my employer today as well as calling my unlisted number, till now, eight times today.

Add 412-444-1027 to the list of numbers these guys are using now.

I think they must have other sources for contact info as I have never had a payday loan or had anything go to a collection firm. All they had was a phone number, email address, home address and a bunch of lies.

I was so happy to hear that I was not the only one getting calls from these people, if you can call them human beings. I can tell you that they are really pissy me off because they are calling me at work. I, as you wish someone could do something about these people I don't know why the government can't stop them. I hope that the calls stop and they leave me alone.

Okay so this guy calls my cell and my work numbers numerous times a day telling me to call back or have my attorney on record call back, but he keeps asking for Michael. Which is not my name so I have told him he has the wrong #. He won't stop any ideas how to get these calls to end.
