Medical Bill Question about Prince William Hospital in Manassas
Date: Sat, 02/07/2009 - 06:29
ARB said Prince William that lately Prince William does not send patients 'paid in full' statements when the account is paid, and that it is unlikely that I will receive any refund for overpayments to the hospital.
Is there something I can do about this?
Many thanks.

i am sorry that you are going through this. i am not sure what exactly you can do but wanted to "bump" this up so someone else can see it and maybe help. i would not accept that as an answer, is there a way you can show them your credit card records that you paid? did you pay with a visa/bank card? i know the bank will work with you if you did but either way there must be some way to fight this!
So what you saying is, for example: you owed $2,000 to hospital.
So what you saying is, for example: you owed $2,000 to hospital. You paid hospital say, $500. Debt collector calls you and demands payment in full. You pay collector $2,000. You are now out $500...........
You are entitled to that money that you overpaid whatever the amount is. If you have a record that you paid the debt collector for the hospital bill and records that you overpaid the hospital then you will need to go to the hospital, most likely patient financial services, and explain the situation.
Some times things can take a while. I have overpaid a hospital by mistake before and a few months later they sent it back. They could have kept it and I wouldn't have known. They told me I didn't pay it but they didn't have their records up to date.
If it comes down to it you will need to hire an attorney if you can't do it on your own and sue the hospital. Just be sure you have proof that you overpaid before going down this venue. Don't worry about attorney fees and such, if you win they will pay them anyway.
billed a year and a half later
they sent me a bill for services rendered on 1/5/08 but i got the bill 5/4/09. When I said I payed $200 on 2/5/08 they said "we had a lot of bills that did no update". How the hell do you bill a year and a half later and expect me to make payment. They have yet to send me the promised itemized bill.
