I just happen to pull my credit report about 2 days ago and I had discovered that I had a collection in the amount of $146.00 and the original creditor being BMG that was reported in my Experian credit report from this National Credit Solutions. I was so upset because I never saw this item before until now. I had read the report and apparently it was first reported to this company National Credit Solutions back in December 2008. I never received any type of written notice from National Credit solutions based in Oklahoma City, OK whatsoever on this debt.

I tried to dispute the item through the credit report website and received investigative results of this matter and it was complete. I do recall receiving some music items from BMG but that has been awhile ago at least 2-3 years ago.

I have the collection agency's telephone number but I am very hesitant about calling them and would rather communicate with them in writing in trying correct the issue and have the derogatory item deleted from my credit report in exchange for payment as soon as possible.

I am willing to settle the account for the amount owed providing that I receive the collection deletion off my creditor report in return for that payment .

I have already written the Collection agency a letter via postal mail and sent it certified and receipt requested, signature, have emailed and faxed that same letter in regards to making a full payment in exchange for deletion from my Experian credit report.

I would like to receive written correspondence from the National Credit Solutions on their company letterhead and a name and a legible signature.

I am hoping that I hear something from this company soon because I would like to have this matter resolved as soon as possible

Is there a general turnaround time to find out, if the collection agency accepts your offer. How does that work? Any information or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't think this is accurate because my debt was reported December 2008. This debt was discharged as of chap 7 back in 2004 and now it's on my credit file with interest attached. I contacted Experian and they said it was valid. So now I have to provide the original bill and bankruptcy papers (which I just happened to have kept). Let's see if they get away with this. My credit score went down tediously.

Its like you wrote this post for me, the same amount was posted on my credit report the same month, from the same company. I'am not paying it, until they can prove that it was me who ordered from bmg music. I also plan on contacting the federal trade commission, and my Attorney General. This is a clear violation of my rights, to dispute debt before it is but on my credit report. As per the fair debt collection act. If I can find 4 other people with the same complaint I plan on sueing National Credit Solutions, you should consider at the very least disputing thr debt, and contacting the ftc, and your Attorney General. Companies like this make me sick, with what thay think they can get away with. If you need any help, or want to talk post again on here.

I had the same issue reported on the same day. Wow.. this is irritating me. I have not received any information from this company via mail, etc. I have not purchased BMG music for about 10 years. They need to contact me first and prove that I owe anything in order for me to pay this. This will affect my rates as I am in the process of buying a home. I dont' think this is accurate either as the dates are for Dec 2008

I just spoke with an agent at NCO and this is a collection agency. The phone number is 800-384-0585. These are collections from about 6 or more years ago.. In order for this to be removed completely from the report it needs to be paid in full without a settlement.. they will also arrange a payment plan. I spoke with a guy named Cory who was super nice and very understanding. He suggested to start with a credti dispute and then see what happens before actually paying the debt.

I pulled my credit report and this is present on mine as well; however, I have a TOTALLY separate account with BMG and they told me that it was from an address from 6 years ago when I was in college. I had four roommates and there is no possible way for me to know who may have ordered in my name...WOW this is so crazy.

My story is the same. I pulled my credit report and discovered that I had a collection account with NCO for a purchase from BMG in the amount of $179.00 that I know nothing about. I have iniatiated a credit dispute but I doubt if anything happens from that. I will be doing more before I pay this account.

You Need to contact NCS and Dispute the Account and then call BMG (long hold time) and dispute it with them. I even tokld them that I had contacted the BBB about this issue and wanted to let them know. At first, they said that I had to call NCS b/c it was locked and they could no longer open it but I said you are the underlying creditor and subject to the BBB investigation since you sold this account that was never mine. They have agreed to call NCS and have the account removed... I will update once this happens.

I was in the same boat as many of you. Account from NCS appeared on my credit report in February 2009 listing a date of December 2008. My Experian credit score went into the tank when this happened.

Here's what I did:
1) Disputed the tradeline with Experian;
2) Sent a debt validation letter to NCS, certified mail, return receipt requested - there are many good templates for debt validation letters out there on the internet...shop around;
3) Sent the same letter to NCS via email;
4) Filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission;
5) Filed a complaint with the Pennsylvania (my home state) Attorney General's Office; and
6) Filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Oklahoma City (NCS's home area).

My multi-pronged approach worked, as the tradeline was removed from my Experian credit report 6 days after I took action.

DO NOT pay this account if you have reason to believe it is not valid. You'll only be cementing that bad mark on your credit record for years to come, unless you successfully initiate a "pay for delete" arrangement with NCS.

Rather, dispute it via one, several, or all of the methods described above...you will definitely want to do #2, at a minimum. This forces NCS to prove the debt is valid or remove it from your record.

In my case, I had not done business with BMG in many years, so it was imemdiately clear that whatever debt I may have with them was well past the 7 -year mark for reporting.

Good luck!

I just had my only credit card, American Express, canceled because of a negative line item posted to my credit report in January from NCS. Apparently, they are posting fraudulent lines on various credit reports (I know my is fraudulent because I NEVER ordered anything from BMG.)

This morning I submitted a dispute with Experian. I am following the same action as PAGreg above. How dare they do this to us!!! They are making our credit reports worse and I spent too much time working on my credit to allow this bullcrap to happen to me.

I am very interested in the other letters who report problems with NCS. I, too, have discovered erroneous and damaging information on two of my credit reports. I was the victim of fraud several years ago and it took me years to get it cleared. Now this! No one has ever sent me a bill for any purchase or service. I'm writing my Maine senators to see if they can help.

I plan on taking action as stated 3 post above!! Even though we did NOT order anything from this company, I was going to pay it not knowing that i had other options. Thank you!!!

I also had a collection put on my Experian credit report. I was first angry at National Credit Solutions (NCS) because they did this. They were also the only people who would talk to me. Then I realized the criminals here are BMG Music. They sold to NCS what they should have known was fraudulent debt. They made a profit off of something that was false. This I believe is a criminal act. I have filed a complaint with the states attorneys office in Indiana against them. NCS, while I have some anger for was just doing their job. They were trying to collect on what they thought was a legitamate debt that they purchased from BMG. If you contact BMG (correct number is 317-692-9200), they are useless. They claim they can't help you since they sold your debt.

I pulled my credit report on 3/14/2009 and noticed the same Collection account for $146.00 from the same company. National Credit Solutions. I have not purchased anything from BMG and it states that the account was opened 12/2008 and They placed a derogatory condition on my credit report for this account on 12/21/2008. Even if I did purchase this crap, and I did not, Who reports to the credit bureau in 21 days? Someone please let me know what is going on with company so this can come off of my credit report.

I just got on the web to search National Credit Solution (NAS) collection so that I can call them about an entry that was entered on my credit report stating that I owe BMG $161 for an account opened in Dec 2008. Once I did that I found that so many others rec'd these erroneous charges. I too asked Experian to investigate and was told it was complete. I am going to do all I can to get this off credit report as I have never opened an account with BMG and not liable for those charges. I have been working so hard to keep my credit report clean and this brings my credit score down. This is wrong and I'll continue to update you all with my progress. Please continue to post your experience. The authorities ought to investigate all these complaints

Was the acronym for National Credit Solutions CRDT SOLUTNS? There is some company on my credit report reporting an account from The First Bank of Delaware for $480. I have researched all over the internet trying to find this company so I can send them a debt validation letter but cannot seem to find this company anywhere. If anyone knows, please email me asap at e_dubble_d[at]yahoo[dot]com

Just received a message for my credit report this morning with this company listed and $135.00 debt tacked to it. Have absolutely no clue what it's about (doesn't even read BMG anywhere on my credit report). Has the same listed date as all of you (December 2008) with a 1 month "no payment" listed. Received a call about 3 weeks ago, and a young lady told me something about $135.00 debt for a medical bill from 1997. I asked her for specifics because I had no idea what she was talking about and she told me she had no specifics (I guess not from 1997). She then transferred me to a answering machine that requested all my pertinent information (including SS#). I hung up believeing it was a scam (and I certainly wasn't going to leave my SS# on an answering machine). I just disputed the item on my Experian account and will be calling this NCS later today once they open. I'm at a complete loss at to how they get away with stuff like this.... I find it interesting they can find my unlisted phone number to call me but they can't find my home address to mail me what this is all about? I've never even received a voice message from them stating what this is about. It just so happened my husband picked up the phone three weeks ago and it was this lady talking about a medical bill from 1997.

Here's what I don't understand outside of all this... How in fact can a collection agency contact you for something that's over 10 years old? Whether it be BMG, Medical Bills, etc? And then how can they place something on your credit record when they haven't even sent you a piece of mail (something tangible), that explains what the collection is about? This is all too weird to me!

I was going to pay it just to get if off my credit, but now after seeing this, I will dispute it.

I just got off the phone with BMG about a 176.00 balance that should not be on my credit!! I have been given the run around so many times it's ridiculous! They won't let me speak to a manager and one agent even hung up on me. I am given different collection agencies each time I call, with of course different numbers. I'm so frustrated!

To PAGreg i'm going to take your advice and take the necessary steps and hopefully I get the same results!

This is absolutely ridiculous!! I have worked hard like many here to improve my credit rating and now I have to pull a credit report to dispute NCS's error!! I was just notified by a monitoring service I have that a collection was entered for $270 on 3/25/09. From the sounds of this thread...it must be BMG music---haven't done business with them for over 15 years!!! and filed BK on that over 10 years ago. Of course the phone number for NCS 405-619-3630 is always busy.....I wonder why? I sure don't have time to be dealing with this abuse but will follow-up with the recommendations from previous posts. Will keep an eye on this thread to see how others do.

I have 3 entry from the agency. I've called them and found out that one was under my sister name and the other two she said that it was from BMG which I never received anything from them. I know that my sister ordered from them in the past but not me. I've sent April identification to proof that was not me, and she agreed over the phone to have the one under my sister name removed and it is still on my credit report. I disputed it with the credit bureau and waiting for the investigation result. I sent them yesterday via email a debt validation letter.

what else should I do?

I too am having the same problem & I contacted experian, federal trade, attorney general, bbb & wrote ncs a letter to validate it & of course they sent me a bill well anyone can print out a bill & make up an account number and say hey you owe this. It does not state what cd's I purchased I have to figure out the next step. I know I did not purchase anything from them within the last eight years & I cannot remember anything before that. I dont get account open 12/08 & in collections in 3/09 I never received a bill before this. I suggest everyone complain as I did to all the companies I did & if there is enough comlplaints hopefully they will be investigated & brought to court

Luckily now, credit companies must PROVE you owe the money. Anything sent to me via a collector, I call the company the bill supposedly originated from. I received a bill from a collector I supposedly owed. I called the company I "owed" the bill for. They said I was correct in that it had been paid years before! I told the collection company it had been paid on "11/11/11" via the company's own records and to check with them. They dropped the matter. I had a few wayward bills when I was unemployed for a time. When I was able to pay I worked with the company I owed them to and ignored the collectors. Then I kept my records until I was certain the charges showed paid via the collectors. I wasn't about to deal with rude screaming collectors. The companies owed are always respectful. If I ever owe a bill again, I will contact the company owed--not a collector.

I have been reading, with great interest, all these posts. BMG/Sound and Spirit have changed their profile and will no longer be a "music club" as of April 30th, 2009. We were refinancing our home and had the same derogatory credit reported in December 2008. I called the number on the credit report which was NCS. My problem was, we ARE current members with Sound and Spirit and have always had a great relationship with them. I had just cashed in my "bonus music points" and received free cd's! BMG erroneously reported us as never fulfilling our membership agreement, which we had...we have been members in good standing for 5 years! Anyway, my fight is now with BMG to retract the info from NCS...they are not very easy to reach!!! I will keep you posted to the outcome.

Same here! I live in reno, nv and I nor my husband have ever purchased anything from bmg music! it was listed on his credit report december 2008 and they want 162 dollars!! what? I immediately talked to a woman on the phone who admitted to me that they had my husbands name but wrong address! I told her that I wanted proof of the debt and here it is April still no letter form them. I sent them a certified letter asking them for proof of the debt and that they had 30 days to respond or I would contact an attorney and sue for damages. They recieved the letter on monday April 20th so I guess We'll see what happens. I think we should all bond together and start a class action lawsuit.

I am in the process of purchasing a home and this mess should up on my credit report about a two weeks ago. The thing about this hot mess is that I never ordered anything from these people. When I contacted them they said that the bill was from 2004. I don't care when it was I never got anything from these people. I am in the process of disputing this claim with the big three creditiors and I sent a certified letter disputing the claim with a signature return. How could they just put this crap on my credit report. It pulled my score down about a hundred points. No one tried to contact me about this bill. I did not receieve music, a bill from BMG nor did I receive any type of collection notice.

This is outragous and I am ready to make someone pay!!!! and It's not going to be me!

I want to be a part of the class action sue to sue BMG and NCS for puting this crap on my credit report!

Hello, everyone. I am sending NCS my second dispute letter certified mail as we speak. My credit score was a 740, I wanted to purchase a BMW with no money down only to find out my credit score was shot down to a 690 due to NCS. The account was for BMG for a total of $253. I have never had an account with them and I am a victim of identity theft. Even once this account is deleted from my account, my score will not go up to a 740 again unless I get my credit to debt ratio down. Other than that, I will have to but $1,000 and get an interest rate of 8% if I get the BMW at this moment. I'm not seeking a credit consultant to see what I can do to get my score back up to the 740. I'm really to submit my info to anyone who wants to file charges!!!

My wife and I had our credit report pulled as we were trying to get a 1st time home loan. I have the same issue with NCS, said I bought BMG CD's in 2005. Somehow they slammed the collection account to my credit file due to an old address I lived at for 4 months! Problem is I never received mail at that address I always had a PO Box. It hit my credit file 12/2008. The company sent me a letter stating I owed them money and NCS calls that "validation".

Well...like the rest here, I also had a charge added to my credit file on 12/08 . Followed the advice and sent a certified letter to them and disputed the charge on my credit file. It was originally only listed on Equifax. That one was finally deleted and now it shows up under Experian under National Credit Solutions and that dispute is coming back as remaining !! Had to dispute it again. ADDITIONALLY..the certified letter I sent requesting information from them etc....has NOT to date been answered. They signed for it on 4/9/09. If they don't respond...what then? What would be the next step? Any information about that would be appreciated.

How ironic that most of us here are having the same date and pricetag on our reports. Isn't BMG required to hold on to something stating that the account was origionated with them and furthermore are they regulated to tell us about the debt being purchased by another company? When I called BMG, they told me they had no record (past nor present) of myself having any accounts with them. Who is regulating these incompetent and fraudulant companies??

I am actually thankful I found this post. I pulled my credit report for the first time ever (I am 25) recently and like everyone else here. Plain as day, there was NCS date opened 12/08, my husband pulled his report and it shows NCS date opened 11/08. I actually printed a PFD for NCS for both of us. Now I am taking them to the shredder, since it is obvious that this is a scam. My husband nor I have EVER purchased anything from BMG. I am greatful to know that we have options other than paying for a debt that is not ours. I will be following the course of action mentioned by PAGreg. Thank you all

National Credit Solutions / BMG is running a scam on bogus debt that is years old.

Here is what I suggest you do if you receive a letter from NCS, BMG music and or Capital Assistance Group if you do not owe the debt.

1) Call 1-800-384-0585 and tell them you want proof that you owe what they are claiming.
2) Send an email (above) requesting proof.
3) Send a fax to 405-619-3631 requesting proof.
4) Mail them a letter with a return receipt to:

National Credit Solutions
PO Box 15779
Oklahoma City, OK
73155

or

National Credit Solutions
3675 E I 240
Oklahoma City, OK
73135

Based on the many complaints I have read on Ripoffreport.com including my own experience they probably will not provide the proof and hope you just pay it.

If they try to use strong arm tactics like they did with me then report them in a professional manor to the BBB and the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals at (952) 928-8000 ask them for a complaint form and explain in a professional manor what happened. It is easy to let your emotions blurt out what happened but, that will only muddy up the water just stick to the facts and don't be sarcastic.

Here is an outline of what they have done to me that I reported to the BBB and ACA.

-Requested proof of debt on these dates, mail, phone call, email, fax....no response. Spoke with Blake Taylor at extension 112 and was told proof was on the way. Never happened.
-Use of strong arm tactics (threatened to access my credit report on a daily basis which can lower your score, was told I had to prove the debt was not mine before they would do anything, hung up on me when asked repeatedly for a copy of proof that I owe what they are claiming, negative report on my credit file before I was given the opportunity to review the debt and pay off if it was mine).

If warranted contact a lawyer and or the Oklahoma Attorney General for help.

Finally I also suggest you contact Chris Murphy at 617-965-2000 x 2530
I found Chris to be quite helpful in coming up with a solution to this problem.
Capital Assistance Group they apparently own BMG music and associated debt.

There are many resources if you do a little digging on the net. I hope this helps!

Unbelievable. Had the exact same thing on my credit report, only found out when I applied for a Student loan for my daughters senior year. WOW. I can't wait to call tomorrow! Has anyone filed a lawsuit?
