Portfolio Recovery called me last week, claiming that they were collecting on an Ikea loan. I have never had a loan with Ikea.
I told them that they needed to send me a debt validation, but what they sent me in the mail is a form (which they want notorized) That says Identity Theft Affidavit. Along with a letter that states that I am required to send them this form so they can investigate my claim that this is not my debt.

I am a little leary of sending them this, as I am not claiming I have been a victim of identity theft. Am I required to send them this form, or what should I do.

Apparently they did lose their minds,LOL....I can't believe they would have the guts to ask for a copy of your SS card never mind your drivers license.

This company is a big bottom feeder, they are actually lower than whale shi* so they should be sand eaters. If you know a good attorney, keep them on speed dial. You may be in for some money if you have to sue these clowns.

I'm currently going after Portfolio for FDCPA, FCCPA, and FCRA violations. Filing suit against them is probably the only way you will get them to realize you mean business.

I would be sure to send that Debt Validation letter ASAP. They might be trying to stall you so you miss your 30-day right to dispute period.

I was just stunned when I read they had asked you to attach copies of your SS card and DL.

What @$$-clowns!
