I paid a collection agency for a credit card debt. I received a settled in full letter from the CA for the debt. The Original creditor still shows the full amount owed and transferred to another lender. How do you fix the original creditor tradeline? Or can you?

If they were claiming to collect for the OC account did you ever DV the CA??

I believe if the OC sells the account it is showed as transferred or sold on your credit report with a ZERO balance. Most rated at an R9. If the status of the OC account is showing otherwise on your credit report with a balance then dispute it and get it updated.

I had some like that. I disputed it with the credit bureaus, the issue being that it should have zero balance.

If the original creditor sold/transferred it, the tradeline for the original creditor should show zero balance as you no longer owe the OC.

The CA you paid must have been collecting for a junk debt buyer?

I wish I could have known. Both the original creditor and the CA (Palisades) still showing on my credit report that I owe for this debt. I did obtain a consumer attorney to sue CA still reporting the debt, so the attorney will make sure the CA side of it gets fixed but as for the original creditor reflecting the correct status, I'm not sure how.
