Some of you probably remember me. I'm in MA and my husband and I had 6 ILLEGAL Payday loans. I say "had" because it "seems" we may finally be getting out from under.

We sent our letters and received a PIF from Geneva Roth. So nice of them seeing as they got $1500 on a $500 loan. And we haven't heard back from 4 of them. My Cash Now, United Cash Loans, PayCheck Today and Dollar Quick. So, I guess it's just "wait and see" with those.

My question is how to respond to Cash Transfer Centers. They sent their "typical" response (by email and regular mail) about having to follow the "laws of Malta" and our account being "under investigation". Our bank account is frozen and will be closed shortly.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how we should respond to this ? Is there a letter "template" somewhere ? This board has been a tremendous help to us.

Thank You

follow the "laws of Malta"

Get them on the phone and ask them "Where do I live" then after they answer tell them that their "laws" do not apply here in the United States.

our account being "under investigation".

Tell them that you are scared that you are getting investigated, then inform them that they in turn are getting investigated by the FBI. this usually shuts them up.

Tell them that they do not have permission or the authority to touch your account. end of story. Tell them THEY Have to follow the rules of the United States.

But make sure you get them on the phone. Keep them on the phone and keep your tone at a mono-tone level. Each time telling them these things. They will get the point and you will have some fun hearing them change their position from one thing to another.

The way they work is they will definitely send a wage assignement to you employer. I am assuming they did that. If not be sure you tell your employer that it is revoked. After their threats and other nonsense you will get a settlement letter "on behalf of them." It is from them using a different name. It will be for about 40 percent of what your supposed balance is. The choice is yours to settle or not. They are a totally illegal operation in this country so there is nothing they can do to you. If a collector picks it up their is nothing they can do either. Just stay out of Malta. LOL
