trying to settle on our own, only 2months behind and was sent to NCO which I now know is a collection agency. When I called them they said that they work for capital one and my accout was still with capital one. I'm confused..I thought once it went to a ca that it was sold off from capital one and it was now out of their hands, but yet at the bottom of the letter it says to make payment to capital one. I am sending them a validation letter. Can someone explain this to me? Why is capital one still involved? or are they making it up????

I to have rec'd a letter from NCO and they do work with capital one in the letter it stated to pay the creditor directly so if that is the case it would be a safe be to say the capital one still has this account. I would call capital one to clarify this.

should I still send a dv letter?

To whom? You can request debt validation from NCO CA since they are a third party collector.

The CA could have sent your account back to the original creditor(Capitol One) due to nonpayment to the VA. So I would call the Capitol One and clarify where payments can be made on the account. Ensure they know you were instructed by the CA to make payments to Capitol One.
