Can we be sent to prison for not paying debt?

i dont know guys, i had some collectors that i personally feel were in the mob! if they could have reached through the phone and strangled me i think they would have!

on a more serious note, they could not make a jail large enough. I believe that most people at some point and time get themselves into trouble its just that we learn from the mistakes. Frankly i got sued once and i live in a very small town and the list of hearings that day was 3 pages long. I no longer felt like a looser who could not pay her bills. You figure that was just one day.

Today, I received a call from the offices of Frederick Hanna, the collection outfit that B of A has engaged for my wife's accounts. Both she and I are on Social Security Disability. When I told this to the woman who called, her first words were "how much is your disability?" and I replied "what difference does it make?". Perhaps I should have replied differently. In any case, she told me "it's not the bank's fault you are disabled". I guess they will say almost anything in attempting to intimidate us. Plus, she used the term "impending lawsuit" a few times, which I assume was meant to make me think I was going to be sued without actually saying it (they can't tell you that you will be sued unless they intend to do it, as I understand the law).
