866-554-1014 - Has anyone heard about Check n Go Law Office?

Here is the letter they sent:

"The Law Offices has offered you an opportunity to pay less than the amount due to satisfy your delinquent account. This settlement- in -full shall be in the total amount of $1,000.00 which is due on or before 5-29-2009.

When you provide a check as payment, you authorize us either to use information from your check to make a onetime electronic fund transfer from your account or to process the payment as a check transaction.

If you have any questions relative to the above referenced settlement, please do not hesitate to contact our office toll free at 1-866-554-1014, Monday, Thursday 8:00am ??? 9:00pm EST, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8:00am ??? 5:00pm EST. Please refer to the file number indicated above. Please remit your payment to 90 Curtwright Drive Suite 2, Williamsville, NY 14221.

Upon clearance of funds the account will be updated as paid in full and your credit file with the credit reporting agencies will be notified that this account has been paid. If you do not meet the above terms, our office can declare the balance in full due and proceed accordingly.

Federal law requires we notify you this is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained will be used for that purpose.

Well, you've already paid a little over $1,000 on the 1,815? Or are they saying the $1,815 is in addition to? You need to make sure they have given you credit for what you have already paid.

I am currently fighting my own battle with these Yahoos! They have violated the FDCPA so many times, right out of the box, they are going to end up owing me money!

Did you pay by check? Can you get copies?

It's seems to me, you've met their settlement offer.

Check N Go drafted those payment out of my account 2 years ago and I do not have copies since they were electronic. They indicated that my payments allow me to be offered the $1000 settlement.

Did you request validation of this debt? Is it still within the 30-day time frame?

If the original loan was for $1,500, you paid 3 payments of $353 (1,059) to Check-n-Go, and the loan is only 2 years old, I'm unclear as to how they can say you still owe $1,815.

Personally, I would request validation asking them to show how they arrive at that amount.

Sit tight and see if anyone else pops in to offer any input.

They forwarded me a copy of my contract that I signed and the settlement letter.

They are frauds, do not give them anything. That same situation is happening to me and I'm contacting the Attorney General Office for harassment.

This caller continued to call my job and leave messages on a co-worker's vm with the same first name. I finally called this person back and advised them that they have to stop contating my place of employment. I hung up on the guy when he got rude. He then called my HR department and said he wanted to verify my employment and advised them that I was going to get sued. He told her that if I called him back and speak with him he wouldn't pursue the matter. He said he was from the "Law Offices".
Five days later he sent in a form asking what's my current resident address, home phone number, salary. Of course that has nothing to do with employment verification. So she only marked the box stating that I was employed with the company. The contact person was Mr. Foulis. We haven't heard from them since.
