closing bank account & need another

The bank probably wont let you open another account due to the NSF's...or even close the account for that matter.

Ok, will they let me freeze the account or what will they let me do? I am at a loss here and I am just sadly desperate. I don't know what to do or where to turn!!!!! Please help me in figuring out what to do!!!!!

Ellen, why is your account NSF? Is it due to PDL's? If so, let us know...there may be a course of action you can take here.

Some due to pdl's some due to poor money management. I have never been in this bad of shape before!!! The major problem is that my check will be direct deposited this friday and I will have no money because the nsf's will take it all and then I am right back to where I started!!!!!

Can u contact your payroll department and ask for a papercheck? They can USUALLY stop it immediately.

Yes, they are doing that for this pay only!!!! It is required that I have direct deposit, so I need a checking account. What kind of mess have I gotten myself into. Wow, talk about feeling like the scum of the earth!!!!!

Trying opening a "My Smart Cash" account with Fidelity. Its free, they do not do a chex system check. I was in the same boat, closed my account and needed something fast and it worked very well. They do free checks and refund the ATM fees.

Try also a debit card - like Wal-Mart offers...you can have them do a direct deposit to it...am not sure about the particulars...fees, etc...if any.

also you can look in the banking section of these forums (the main forum page) and the people over there can help you find a bank in your area that does'nt check cheksystems.

Ellen, also make sure you revoke the PDL's Auth for next payday or you will be even more in the hole(Unless you've done that already.. unsure if you have). I'd give a copy to them and the bank.

I was caught in the PDL trap also. I ended up opening a new account before the old bank had a chance to report to Chexsystems. Ive had this account for 15 years! I just screwed up so bad and I am unable to pay them the full amount at the moment and there is no point in partially paying right now when they are just going to tack on additional overdraft fees! So your best bet is to open a new account somewhere else and deal with the other account as soon as you have all the money owed saved up. Eventually they will take away the majority of their fees just so you wil pay them.

You know, people are on here trying to do better and fix the things they have severly screwed up on. The last thing that people need you telling them is how pathetic they are, I know, I messed up and I am trying to act like an adult and fix what I have created, so unless you have something useful to say, don't say anythying, you are not perfect I am sure you have royally screwed something up in your life, so back off!

I guess you just need to feel better about yourself by putting others down, that's okay, I understand what people like you need to do to feel good about themselves, I work with them everyday, pretty sad really. Go on living your "perfect" life so you tell it, people like you are much more screwed up than people like me who can own up to their mistakes, take the steps they need to take to fix things and become stronger in the end.

I have a checking account, don't use a prepaid card from wal mart nor do I steal, so go badger someone else. Being narcissistic won't get you very far either.

This forum is about people helping people and I am one of the people they have graciously helped. Literally saving my life. I hope you do use this for research. Thank you very much for deleting the "guest" commentary. Wow, what a mean individual. I also agree, if they are in such wonderful financial shape then why are they on this site? I appreciate all of the advice that I have been given and I am taking the necessary steps to fix not only my financial problem but my recent financial behavior. It is nice to know that there are real people on this site that want to help. You know, I am a good person, with a good job in a bad situation. It does not matter who you are, anyone can have financial problems and it is not always because you make poor choices, sometimes with medical expenses, etc.... you just fall into a never ending trap so it seems. Anyway, people like our little "guest" are just too inconsiderate to stop and think about the entire picture. Enough of my rambling...Hope everyone has a nice day....

For someone who's educated, harworking, and well off, you seem to know alot about the welfare office and it appears you may have more time and different reasons other than those you have claimed for harrassing people on this website. Could it be grade school is out for the summer and your parents have had to block all the bad sites on your computer?
