Your car can be repossessed even if you make only one missed payment, as it is considered breach of the loan agreement. If you cannot make the creditor agree to modify the loan agreement, you can consider selling your car. You need to inform your creditor of your plans of selling the car and the creditor has to temporarily stop the process of repossession. Once the car is sold, you pay the money for which the car has been sold to the creditor and the creditor will make arrangements for you to repay the remaining portion of the debt.

When I asked for a payment deferment on my car loan, the woman at Wachovia told me that they are not allowed to do anymore deferments because of a new law.
But I don't know if she was lying or not.
