First of all I am in the state of Virginia. I have a company called CPS calling me and my friends. It is for a payday loan I let default. Can I be arrested for this? My check was returned and I was making payments to the cash advance place, then they all of a sudden sent it to these people. I understand they are low as low can get, but I wanted to ask what exactly they can do to me? thanks!

its allied cash advance. I borrowed $500 and made a payment but I owe $455 still and yes, the bank account is no longer, so they cant get it from that. I am going to pay them little by little over the next few weeks, but I don't want to talk to them. I am just afraid they will pursue something between now and then. Their message said I needed to call them immediately, today and so on...

They always say that.

But Allied is a storefront, correct? Here is an interesting article:

But generally you don't want to mess around with the storefronts because it is very easy, quick, and cheap for them to take you to local small claims court.

I like the fact that Virginia has a rate cap of 36%. Be thankful you don't live in Utah!

yes, it is a storefront. CPS has already put on my credit report too. I will just start sending them something within the week and see how it goes. wish me luck!
