What the hell is going on

I returned the DVD to Blockbuster and asked them if all was squared as long as I paid the dollar and something over due fee and they said yes. They said that I don't owe anything anymore.
Yet I am still getting phone calls from NAFS saying that I owe them the same amount of money that they were asking for from the start. I don't have my letter anymore since Blockbuster told me that this whole thing was taken care of so I don't have a reference number anymore so I can't even reach any live person on the phone at NAFS to talk to.
What is going on and how am I supposed to talk to them about it when I can't even get to anybody on the phone?? This has got to be one of the most idiotic automated phone systems that I've ever come across.

i would send a debt validation to them asap. my guess is that blockbuster sold the debt so even though you are good with them, they do not own it anymore. (someone please correct me if i am wrong)

I would call Blockbuster and find out if they still own the debt...if they do, then they can recall the account...if not and they sold it, then they will tell you so...if they did sell it, then DV the CA.

Hmmmm, the OP said they already talked to Blockbuster. I would contact Blockbuster and ask them for a copy of the receipt/letter, copy it and send it with a Cease & Desist letter (Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested) to NAFS.
Netflix is better anyway, you can take as long as you want to return it (as long as you are an active customer).. :D
Similar situation happened to me
Similar situation happened to me and it took the collection agency roughly 2 weeks to stop calling. I was dealing with NCO at the time though so this CA you are dealing with may just be stone aged with a paper trail. The fact you paid the bill at BB and in fact returned the movie tells me the account was still in their system. I am guessing you got the letter for $110 or so for the cost of the "commercial" dvd?
lol, guest, you are right, the price for the movies that were lo
lol, guest, you are right, the price for the movies that were lost or whatever are really way over priced!
for the op, i would not stress over it too much. as long as you have proof that it is taken care of, you should be okay.
