I just got a letter from Allied Interstate stating my account with Capital One was placed to their office for collection and I owe $1172.00. I just went online and my account was listed as 1 payment past due, but I then checked my Quicken files and I have made payments every month.

I will be calling Capital One tomorrow but this seems very confusing. My first question is how am I a month behind? I know this months payment went to them after the due date but it has been received and credited. But why would they sell off my account over based on potentially being one month behind?

Just got off the phone with Capital One. They have no idea of any turnover to Allied Interstate. My account is less than 1 month past due, but we are still in good standing with them.

Do I waste my time contacting Allied Interstate since this is clearly a scam?
