PLEASE HELP

I had a payday loan with this company. I paid them off in full on 07/10/09 debited my account $520 no problem.
No problems whatsoever I have taken out loans with them multiple times before....

I went on to the website on 07/22/09 to renew my loan
If I log on TODAY right now it shows still pending approval pending monies deposited into account pending....

TODAY 07/27/09 I see 2 debits on my account one for $400.00 and one for $120.00 totaling $520

So they debited my account in full when I never even got the funds and paid them off already

This is fraud I called up the bank cant do anything since they are still pending.

I call up norstar... there number is " all circuits are busy" and now it is busy signal over and over I have called over 100 times and counting still calling them
I emailed them 3 times this morning no response and have 3 fax machines going to try to fax them the email I sent demanding that they reverse out the charges.
My account is 0.00 and will probably have overdraft fees and NSF fees.

What else can I do?

I'm sorry to tell you this, but there is only one sure way to stop the withdrawals, and that is to close your account. If that isn't an option, then tell the bank to put a hard debit block on your account. Before you close your account, read this information at the link below. http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/close-account.html

Please do not let any of these pdl's know you are going to close your account, until AFTER you have done it!

what b of a told me is that since its still pending i have to contact the people withdrawing to tell them to stop it
but the money is gone technically because my account is zero... well actually negative now because of other charges. once they post... then i can call the banks ach debit/fraud blah blah and dispute it... has anyone else heard of Norstar doing this before.... debiting by accident?

What? PDLs debiting more money than agreed? Never!

Please accept my apologies for the apparent flippancy, emlfw, PDLs are well known to be a rather crooked industry. Unfortunately you will find no support at your bank. Take a look around this forum, you will see. Type "Norstar" into the Search box above and see all the banter about them.

Good luck getting out from under the PDLs relatively unscathed. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

From what I've read here, (I can't believe I'm saying this), but since this has happened to several people, perhaps Norstar had a computer foul up...people are calling them, that's why the lines are sooo busy....I know, I know...but think about it...for those that have used Norstar before, did you ever have any serious problems trying to reach them?

At this point, since the transaction is pending, the bank can't reverse it until it posts...again, I know...the headaches it causes...when you dispute it with B of A, they will reverse it with credit posting usually next business day and credits for o/d fees within 1 -3 days...any fees associated with that transaction will be reversed.

It doesn't help your situation immediately. So sorry for you. Keep trying to reach Norstar...and when you do, please let us know what you find out.

Good Luck.

Go to your bank and file an ACH Claim against that transaction. It will take 5 - 7 working days for the bank to investigate and reverse the amount. If Norstar / Nordstar will not answer your calls nor emails, I doubt if they'll answer a claim from the bank on your behalf. You can also do that if you feel that you've over-paid them based on the payday loan laws in your state. Also, you can place an hard-hold on your account and block ALL ACH transactions. I also suggest that you place an "Block All Debits" on your account; If you can, just close your account and open a new.

Here is the direct number to contact the company handling Norstar's accounts as they are no longer in business:

866-824-0893

I found that the company now handling the accounts can provide accurate information on current loan status.

if you did not fill out for a new loan and this was unauthorized, go to your bank and start a fraud claim. I have one going right now. They will not stop the withdrawls unless you put a hard debit block or close your account. My bank manager said this is the way some pdls work and he has seen it several times.
