Lets say a collection agency starts harrassing you for a debt you don't owe and breaks many of the rules that they are supposed to abide by. Then uhhh My friend, gets an attorney and sues these clowns, the attorney recovers $1500 for my "friend" and his or her fees and court costs. Does my "friend" get a 1099 later on? Is a law suit considered income? Just curious if anyone knows.

same instance as soaplady said.i'm guessing because you had to sue the CA to get it put to bed,but that is just a guess.

Every night in the Phoenix area there is one radio show or another that goes on for hours. There message is always the same, "We can eliminate your debt in weeks or months". Call this number etc etc. How can they possibly do that? If it's a false claim wouldn't they be shut down?

I think that if someone sued them over making false claims, and then they were able to show that 1) their claims are true for certain cases, and that 2) every case has different outcomes; then it wouldn't necessarily be making false claims.

I'll bet if you go to their website, or sign an agreement with them, they've got all sorts of fine print that state individual results may vary and that they make no warranty as to the actual results.
