Think I made a mistake

A debt collector called me and asked for me by giving me the last four of my social, i said "yes this is him" but then when he went to verify my last four of my social i said "no, wrong #" and hung up.


Yeah, i honestly just remember how nasty they were to me our last conversation and i kinda freaked when they called again.

That won't slow them down. They know that you verified the numbers the first time, so they will call back. Hanging up is just a sure way of flagging the number for a call back. If they call, you need to find out who they are and what they want. They are required to send you a dunning letter within 5 days of initial contact, and speaking with them is the only way to get this. It will have contact information that you need to use. Send them a debt validation letter, and they are required to cease collection activity until they validate the debt. The best way to handle this is to communicate, and use the FDCPA to your advantage.
