I recently agreed to a settlement concerning my debt w/Hunt & Henriques. After about a thirty minute phone call just to get them to send me a postal letter w/their letterhead and an original signature, I receive what looks like a a settlement letter typed up on plain white copy paper. The body of the paper is crooked, no signature, and no original letter head. it looks like they copeid the letter head onto the plain white paper using a fax machine, as the top of the paper has the fax transmissions on it. What do I do? Are they trying to fool Me? It also looks like they crumpled the paper up before placing it in the envelope.

if it makes you feel better i would be concerned. it smells fishy that this so called settlement is not on company letter head and that there is no signature. is there contact #s? i would request as the above mentioned to validate the debt, be sure its yours and that you owe the money. you never know scammers come up with all kinds of things these days. If they are legit this should not be a issue to request them to send you a more formal document.

Thank you...they clearly think I'm not intelligent enough to know the difference btwn. an official letterhead document and one that looks like I typed up myself...which is what they were probably hoping I would fall for so they could come back and say they would never send something like that out.

No, they have not furnished me with any proof of holding the debt other than the origainal creditor and the account number.

Hello, I spoke to the CA and the agent gave me a long story of how settlement letters don't need to be signed, but she did make the mistake of saying that the letter mailed to me was signed by an attorney making it legal, to where i quickly cut her off and said it wasn't signed. She said it doesn't matter, it is still a legal document and would hold up in court. She said to just pay the settlement amount and they will send me a letter in 20 days saying the account is paid in full. Yeah Right!
