Hello, I have a question. About a month or so ago I started a thread about Riddle Wood, who is collecting for HSBC. They claimed to be attorneys and used attorney letterhead. This is the second or third collection agency for HSBC the others vanished after I requested validation. I sent the usual letters to Riddle Wood and today I received a response but it is not a validation at all.
It is a two page letter - the first signed by an attorney's assitant and it said "Please find all of the information our client, THE BUREAUS, has provided to us as validation for the referenced account." That was it for the first page.
The second is just a paper that said statement of account, stating BUREAUS INVESTMENT GROUP PORTFOLIO NO 13 LLC, ASSIGNEE OF HSBC CARD SERVICES, INC.
and it showed a balance, a due date of 8/19/09, statement closing date of 8/19/09 and account summary. It said my last payment was 3/31/08 and my charge off date was 11/29/08. this does not make sense to me.. the payment on 3/31/08 was made to a collectors of theirs who fell off when i started asking questions. I just am really confused.
I have paid accounts that were not fully validated (Nelson Watson barely validated it for example but I was confident they had my account.)
Is this acceptable? What are my next steps?
