Chase credit card

Hello everyone-
I am in some need of advice regarding a Chase credit card account. I reside in CA and I have a $17K balance on this card, due to a balance transfer done in March'09. I was able to make only two payments on it and then had to stop due to loss of income. I am three months behind and my account is in the pre-litigation department. I called them to see if they would offer some arangements, and offered to pay about $150/month. They wouldn't accept anything less than $368/month for the next three months, provided I allow them to draw directly from my checking account, and after that they will return my account to regular customer service department. I was told that in 2 days my account will go to the Litigation department, I will be sued and so on. I am not sure what my chances are and if the Litigation Dept. would be even harder to deal with. Our income has plumeted drastically and making our mortgage is our main priority right now, leaving little to none for credit cards. Any reasonable advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
