I want to proceed with bk. But, my family has given me money over the last 3 months to survive. I have paid a little of it back. Will this affect my bk? If they give me money is that income? They just gave me some money yesterday.... I'm worrried that I will no longer qualify for chapter 7 because of it. Thanks

My in-laws have given us money to survive for the past 6 months until my husband got a job. A fairly good chunk of $ although it only allowed us to eat and keep our house. I am planning on doing a chpt. 7 - my lawyer didn't see this money as an issue at all. It is not regular income and not reportable to the IRS as such. It can be seen as a "gift" or loan. He told me in fact to not pay any of it back before filing the bankruptcy as I should not be making any expenditures beyond basic expenses. Shouldn't be anything to worry about.
