I was contacted last Thursday by a Cameron Phillips at P & B Capital Group, LLC. He received my account, a payday loan from Sagamore, and wanted to settle it. I had not received anything in writing so I asked him for proof and he emailed me a letter. He refuses to work with my debt management program and says this needs to be settled by this Wednsday, the 30th. He's only giving me one week, including the day he contacted me.

Mind you, the debt is with an ILEGAL! payday loan company, called Sagamore. The loan was for $250 with a finance charge of $75.00 which I have more then over paid. They have collected from me $375 in fee's alone.

Cameron has already called me again today and has asked to "ask around" for the money. Yeah, because if my friends were millionares, I would be in debt in the first place? What should I do? I'm suppose to call him back today?

SC,

Just to be clear, I don't owe anything if I have already paid back the principle, even though they sold the debt to this collection agency? I was doing the math yesterday on the loan , Sagamore, and I have MORE then paid back the principle. The amount was for $250 and I've paid back close to $350 and now this collection agency is claiming I owe $430. Doesn't a collections agency have to registered in my state, FL, to collect on a debt? Thanks for your help btw

The sent me a letter in the mail already, I received it yesterday. Funny, since he called me last Thursday. Should I still send a DV letter? What should I do from this point since I received a correspondence and 3 calls already from this guy.

I knew they were a bottom feeder the moment the guy started to give me a spiel on why they don't work with debt management programs and how he called me on the 24th and demanded payment by the 30th. Who does that? Honestly? I am so frustrated with these people and am more upset that they get to break the law every chance they get.

What should I do at this point? Should I send a C & D letter and tell them I paid that loan off already? According to my research, Sagamore is an illegal lender and I have more then paid off my principle.
