I have a judgement against me for an old cc debit from chase that this law office sued me for earlier this year. The total amount of the judgement was 1100 and I've been paying $110 a month. My balance as of a few weeks ago was $590 and when I went online today to check and see if they got my payment, it said my balance was $1,275!! Can they do this?? I have yet to call them but this doesn't seem right to me.

Judgement or no, you have a right to know how they got that figure. In your position, I'd likely call them. Record the call for your own protection (check here for your state laws on telephone recording.) Just ask them how they got that number, since you've been paying along under an existing agreement. If you find yourself getting upset, politely end the call, and hang up. Same applies if they get abusive.

Are they allowed to charge intrest BEFORE they get a judgement on an account that was charged off and they purchased? I'm in Ohio
