Hi I live in Ohio and I am trying to deal with 5 storefront payday loans. I listed below the estimates of what I owe.

1. National Check Cashiers $600
2. Cashland $385 (paid $200)
3. Always Payday $350
4. Checksmart $700

I have no clue what to do. I talked to one creditor and she wanted $200 payments, which I made one, but can't afford that. I want to find a company to help me, but don't know who to go with. I talked to a few companies and they all want money up front or it's too expensive. If anyone has any advice on what I can do from here or a company that is good that can help....please let me know!

Click the link below to see if any of yours are members of the CFSA (The Community Financial Services Association of America) http://www.cfsa.net/MemberList.aspx
If they are (and I am pretty sure some of yours are), go into the store BEFORE your next payment is due and request the EPP, click the link and refer to number 11 to read about the EPP
http://www.cfsa.net/industry_best_practices.html
You might need to be firm and persistent with some of them, especially Checkngo, according to other members who have requested an EPP Checkngo is notorious for not knowing what an EPP is, or trying to convince you they will need to send your check through first before they can implement an EPP, but this is all BS, according to the CFSA any member of their organization MUST adhere to their rules. My suggestion would be to go in armed, print out the CFSA guidlelines and also print out the part that states all members must adhere to these rules, see link, http://www.cfsa.net/best_practices.html
See the statement below:
CFSA member companies are required to comply with Industry Best Practices that ensure consumer protections and responsible lending to all customers. As a condition of membership, members must abide by all CFSA Best Practices and pledge their commitment to them annually.
I just heard the other day that one time a year, Cashland will let you split your payments up over a longer period of time. I don't remember the specifics but my friend was just there last week and that is what she is doing with them. Check into it :) In all my dealings with Ohio storefronts, they were probably the easiest to deal with.

I also am in the same boat with almost the same people. Checksmart has sent me check to an attorney now, HP and Associates. They are down right nasty. I offered to pay off the whole thing next month and the guy just cute me off and told me to borrow the money! LOL in this economy how do they think family members have extra money! Anyways, I had been making payments to Checksmart and then they decided it wasn't enough. They also won't send me anything in writing! I don't know what to do cause now the guy said they are filing it with the court and hung up on me. What do I do??? Cashland has just stopped calling me all together and has never from day 1 sent me anything in the mail.

I have never dealt with Checksmart so I can't tell you for sure, but if they are taking you to court I think that it will be favorable on your part once the judge sees that you have been making payments to them. :)

As far as Cashland goes, I don't think they are gone for good...they probably passed it on to a third party collector that you will hear from eventually.
