While searching for the law offices in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, I found Paul R. Beckert, Jr. and Gerald M. Hershenson offices.
Tell us the name of the law office by whom you are contacted.
I think you should talk to the original creditor and get the latest information about this account. It will be much easier to deal with them unless the account has not been sold to any third party collection agency.
When this law office says that they have sent you the details in writing at your address, verify the address where they have sent it. Also, ask them to give you the SSN# and other important details so that you are sure about them making a genuine collection call to you. You need to cross question them so that you have a legitimate reason to deal further with this company.
Ambassador
When I was making pay-back to Nationwide/Ambassador, they refused to give me an address to send payment to. They had UPS come out and pick up my money order. When I get home this evening, I'll see if I have a receipt showing any address for them.
I beleive that they hesitate to give out their address, because then you might be able to contact them, or put the AG in touch with them for illegal collection practices. Just a theory!
Nationwide Cash Address
I've also been dealing with the threats from nationwide cash. I argued with them on the phone for about 15-20 min before getting a physical address for them (after a few more threats to sue me!) the address they gave me was as follows:
Ambassador Financial
314 N. Riverside Dr
Espanola, NM 87532 and a phone for that address is:
(505) 747-1749
Was the woman you talked to a Ms. Kynard or Karyington?
Ambassador, langhorne law
I think the law needs to check these people out. The only address I got after 4 months was Langhorne a PO box. The lady at nationwidecash told me that was their address-their only address. They won't give people a way to pay. Then they stack on fees and try to get debt higher. If you close your account they send emails. I stopped taking calls. Its best to let the law firm and the company email because my emails were really bad from a Wiiliams and a Mr. Bond there. The debt was small.
Ambassador Financial/ www. nationwidecash.com/ Langhorne Law
I think that the company is not folowing debt collection laws as well. They contacted by email changing up the contract and said person did not pay and that was how they could get them on the loan as they did something wrong. The dates were changed and they did get the first payment. Then, person had to close account due to unathorized debits due possibly to this company or another payday loan. Then, nationwide would not give their address and said the only address for Ambassador/Nationwide cash was Langhorne Law. The lady at Nationwide cash misrepresented them we think when their address is the same as a law office. Then the law office collects not only the loan but their "late fees". They tell consumer to send to a PO Box in PA. I think the company/ and law firm is doing something wrong when they won't give address.
Are they really a law firm?
Some lady named Joan says she is a paralegal called me today from Landhorne Law claiming to represent Nationwide Cash. She was getting into the little speech about how she is trying to collect for her client and that by closing my account I have committed Fraud by writing bad checks. So, I asked her if she could send me a break down of the fees of what they claim I owe and the payments made on this and she said she didn't have the information. I said, but you are supposed to be a law firm, you should have that information. I asked if she could send me something in writing and she said she could have one of the attorneys email me something. I am waiting to see what they send me. By the time she was hanging up, she was stammering over her words. I will keep you guys posted on what's happening.

The whole song and dance from this law office about writing bad
The whole song and dance from this law office about writing bad checks is a load. Even lawyers have to obey the fdcpa. you'd laugh your ass clean off the back of you body if I told you how bad lawyers are with money! I sued to collect student loans, lawfully, of course, and no lawyer ever paid a penny on anything even though these loans helped them build their fabulous life, and their credit reports were always farcical as well. I wouldn't be intimidated by lawyers if I were you, they are hipocrates and full of hot air.
I received a call back and she said she emailed me the breakdown
I received a call back and she said she emailed me the breakdown, which I have not received. She also added that if the address that she has on file is not valid, please give her the correct address by giving her a call back. The funny thing is that she is calling me at work, which is at a law firm. I am checking on them, and there is no record of them. i am still waiting for the email breakdown of the payments and fees.
Nationwide Cash
I requested my original contract from them so I will
have it in time for court. They sent me a copy through the US Mail. I have my doubts that "Langhorne Law"is a legit firm. I received a copy of the contract in a business size envelope with their return address "Typed" upper left hand corner. No letterhead! And when I asked to speak to "Dennis P Williams",he's always "On the phone!" Additionally,if you look up their number, it's for a Check Cashing store in Pa.
Presently I'm in the middle of either bringing them to court,or arbitration. not sure which one yet!

I have just been contacted by some woman stating to be representing a firm at my job and she was advised that employees are not allowed personal phone call to contact me at home - then she demanded to speak to my supervisor - Now am I wrong - is she not suppose to comply to my companies request - she could get me fired, the lady who screens our calls passed her to my voice mail and she left a horrible message. What scams are the doing - they represent themselfs as a law firm and they are not is that against the law could you not sue to for misrepresentation?

Yes, you can sue a collector for violating the federal laws. If you notify them in writing to stop calls at your work, it will put a stronger and legal impact. Send a cease and desist letter through certified mail with return receipt requested. These actions will help you in covering your grounds legally. If they break the laws by contacting you further, you can sue them for each federal violation.

These actions will cover your base legally, but you are still responsible for the debt if it is legitimate. You have to work out your payment arrangements and avoid legal actions.

Has anyone received an email from a "Robert Parker" or anyone else of Langhorne Law making accusations of fraud and citing cases, like, Bank of America v. Jarczyk, 268 B.R. 17 (W.D.N.Y. 2001); In re Eashai, 167 B.R. 181 (9th Cir. 1994)?
I would like to know.

I doubt it was my firm that called you, bigmommagmomma. I've never had an employee with the last name "Fulton." Moreover, the retainer I had with my last debt collection client expired at the end of June. (I chose not to renew it as I am refocusing my practice towards other areas of law.) Any calls you've received since then would not have come from my office.

bigmomma,
Please don't let this place scare you. They are not worth your putting your health at risk. What they have done is illegal. They can't threaten you like that. You will not be charged with check fraud. Where you have the threat on tape from your answering machine, you need to file a complaint against this company and be sure to list the names of the people who keep contacting you and enclose a copy of the tape. Also, I would file a police report against them where you a have the taped threat.
THANKS TAMMY

Mr. Blake works for Nationwide and I assume Mr. Fulton does as well, though I have never met him. Any accounts I had for Nationwide were transferred back to them as of July 1st. My only current connection with them is that I continue to forward payments made to my firm under old settlements and some corporate work that does not involve collections or any contact with clients.
I would be very surprised if anyone at Nationwide would claim they worked for Langhorne Law, since a first-party creditor enjoys far greater latitude in its collection efforts. Instead, I would suspect they are trying to explain that the account has been transferred back to them and simply have not done so with sufficient clarity.
I'd be happy to look into this if you'd like. Although my contact information is all over this site I'll repeat it here. E-mail: dennis @langhornelaw.com or phone 866-529-0217. You would simply need to e-mail your real name and some loan information (approximate date you took it out, last time you were called by a collector, etc.). I can't very well ask about an account under the screen name you use here.
Please note that I am not looking to collect this debt, hence I see no reason to include the mini-miranda. (Frankly, I'm in the process of restructuring the firm to focus on consumer debt settlement rather than collections and don't want to be involved in collections.) However, I take Big Momma's statements seriously and want to get to the bottom of whatever did happen.

When I went bad
I had no trouble what so ever with them. But I think I'm one of the few people in this world that pay back what I owe. The fees are high, but they were the same when I agreed to the loan. I actually feel bad that I took so long to pay them back, but now I'm down to only two more payday lenders to pay back and than I'm out of payday loan debt. I wish I could be a beat and no pay people back like all you guys but I like to look at myself in the mirror.

Domenic, the issue here is not being deadbeats but being dealt with in a legal and fair manner. Case in point, I have know of an indivual who had defaulted on a loan due to a very bad car accident putting her out or work and in the hospital. She contacted them and even sent them a written repayment plan, which they refused to accept. She sent in 2 payments, which they cashed.. then contacted her using the threat of prosecution for fraud. At that point, she told them to fly a kite since payday loans are illegal where she lives. She invited them to sue her so that she could have a judge throw out their debt legally. They didn't and she has not heard from them since. My point is, she was more than willing to pay them back as are those who post here. However when they broke the law and illegally threatend her, all bets were off.

Exactly JJ. Most people coming to this forum are not trying to dodge their obligations, and due to unforseen circumstances have found themselves unable to pay on their debts. I don't feel judging somebody because of what their situations happens to be is appropriate. I believe in karma, be careful, it comes back at you 10 folds. So be kind, instead of berating/badgering somebody for hard times or a mistake offer to help them instead. (You'll feel much better about yourself and rid yourself of negative energy).

FYI - It's official. Langhorne Law is no longer affiliated with any payday lender. It is now exclusively a consumer debt settlement firm.

Is this company Langhorne Law is real...?
I got an email from them and I am just checking to see if this company real. Due to I know that there is a lot of companies like these check advance companies will use all kinds of techniques.
But from what I have noticed is that they put this on your credit.

Most payday lenders do not report to the big three - Experian, Equifax and Transunion - so payday loans normally do not affect your FICO score. (Once a loan goes to a 3rd party collection agency, though, this can change.) Many do use subprime credit bureaus, such as DP Bureau and Teletrack, so defaulting on a loan or joining a credit counseling or debt settlement program may affect your ability to get payday loans in the future.

I noticed that myself about two weeks ago. When Ambassador last renewed its license (in 12/05) I was listed as the contact person, just as I had in previous years. With every thing else I had to do to end my ties to Ambassador and start up the new practice, I just overlooked this. In any event, a letter went out immediately to the Financial Institutions Division asking them to update the site. I assume they haven't done so yet. I'll call Yvette Gonzalez, who was my primary point of contact at that office, tomorrow and ask her when they will update the website.
I expect I'll still get the occasional piece of mail for Ambassador for some time to come, which I forward to their office in Espanola.
