Don't agree to anything over the phone, tell them you need a letter of collection (as required by the FDCPA-a federal law) in the mail before you can even discuss this. They are full of bull crap, no one is coming to your place of employment.

Right now, you pay on your terms and if they wont accept then they wait. I would send out a debt validation letter to the collection company and make sure you send it certified. Then also file complaints with the BBB, AG, and so on. Dont let them push you around. And if anyone is committing internet fraud its them.

These outfits are completely shameful and that's what they're counting on, that they'll scare you into paying outrageous sums of money. As Jasgal said, send a certified debt validation letter to these people; I'm almost willing to bet that you'll never get an answer, at least in writing! Don't let them intimidate you and if you have any questions, this is the place to get answers.
