Chase made me a offer to settle @ 45% and 24 hrs to except but when I called back today to except they pulled the offer when I wouldn't give them my SSN over the phone?
He told me no offer NO farther communication unless I gave it to them?
Anyone ever hear of this?

Usually for verification purposes they will ask for the last 4 digits, or your password for the account (mother's maiden name, etc.). If you called them, I wouldn't worry that it's not a legitimate business. However, I never, ever give my ss number to anyone who calls me. Don't know who could be calling......

I had a collection agency call me on my cell phone. I'm in a dispute with bank charges and they turned it over to C/A. Caller asked for my social security number to verify my identity. Told her that I don't disclose it over phone; she started arguing with me and when I stood my ground, she hung up. Now she could have asked date of birth, mailing address, etc.
