Chase refused communicate unless I give them my SSN?

He told me no offer NO farther communication unless I gave it to them?
Anyone ever hear of this?
yup...it is identifying information. They already have your soc
yup...it is identifying information. They already have your social security number...you gave it to them on your application. They can pull it directly off your credit report too.
If you called them then you at least know who you are talking to

If you called them, I wouldn't worry that it's not a legitimate business. However, I never, ever give my ss number to anyone who calls me. Don't know who could be calling......
I had a collection agency call me on my cell phone. I'm in a dispute with bank charges and they turned it over to C/A. Caller asked for my social security number to verify my identity. Told her that I don't disclose it over phone; she started arguing with me and when I stood my ground, she hung up. Now she could have asked date of birth, mailing address, etc.
