Northway Debit took $438 from my checking account last pay, and I'm not sure who they are!

Bowen29,

Welcome to forums :D

Keep watching your account statement regularly so that you can trace them if Northway Debit continue hitting your account.

Also contact your bank to see what they recommend in this connection. Perhaps they can give you some clue on this unknown company. Also ask your bank how to resist unsolicited withdrawals Northway Debit them in future.

I found out that Northway Debit are the same as Cash Transfer Centers. I owed them $438, and it turns out that the two withdrawls from Northway add up to $438. They wanted me to do a Western Union payment on Friday for this amount. Now I have to contact them and find out if this takes care of my debt.

I have bad credit thanks to a bankruptcy in 2000. Last year, I started wtih one payday loan, Northway Debit, now I have several. I have worked out an arrangement with one company to pay them off. My question is: does anyone know of a debt consolidation loan for people with bad credit? I don't ever want another payday loan again but I can't pay my bills on my payday.

No, there's no remaining balance. Northway Debit took the money the same day they were asking for the Western Union payment. I'm glad now that I couldn't make that payment, since that would have been a double pay. Anybody want to guess how long I'd have to wait to get the overpayment back?

Bowen,

Contact your bank. They can give you an idea how long will it take to get the refund.

It seems your lender has received the payments. Why don't you ask them not to contact you any more, since they have already withdrawn the amount from your account? In that case you need not wait for the refund. Let it be paid to them, provided the amount is correct.

How many names does Northway Debit need? This is ridiculous. First, you pay them via western union and then they hit your account for the money. I've heard of this happening to other people. I'm glad I did not pay them via western union. If you can, file a formal complaint against Sonic/Cash Transfers, with your local consumer protection office.

msmishele30,

You are right; all who are scammed by them should file complaint with FTC or local consumer protection office. This will insist higher authority to run an investigation against this company, Northway debit.

Hope the community members would uncover all the names they use to cheat people.

Hi Bryan,

I have filed against Northway Debit myself with the BBB, FTC, and three attorney general's offices in three different states. I haven't gone through what some forum members have, but they have violated my cease and desist order, and continue to do so. I keep track of the calls, dates, and times. My file on Sonic just keeps getting bigger and bigger. They are not licensed to lend money in my state or in PA either.

Michele,
(Guess how do I know your real name :D)

You have done it correct. Hope everyone checks the licensure before lending money or prior to paying to the collectors. Let's do one thing, tell these facts about Northway Debit to as many people as you can and ask them also to tell it to as many people as they can. If this process continues for one week, all the people of our country will be aware of this. Then everybody will do some research before doing business with some companies.

When you borrow money you have to pay it back.

What are you complaining for?

That company let you borrow money when you were in trouble. You did use their money.

When the time's up to pay back, you start arguing.

What wrong? They never contacted you first.
YOU contacted them and YOU agreed for all terms.

Payback crook, and shut your big mouth!

Hello,

Northway is a very bad company. You can't really find them in a search and when you ask your bank for info on this company, they are unable to give a thorough answer because there really isn't an answer. I had them attempt to take out money from my checking account at Bank of America about 8 times until I told B of A to stop this company from doing so. Northway also signs you up for a 'towing service' which costs around $21.95 per month or so and the funny thing is, I never even heard them say I am getting this service and such. I looked at my statement and all of a sudden I'm paying a towing service fee which I never signed up for. So my advice would be go to your bank and tell them that you have no clue who these guys are and that you want a stop payment on anything that comes from them.

Yes, Andy is correct Northway Debit is CashTransferCenters.com you can also reach them at this toll free number (866) 261-9428. They are not committing fraudulent practices. What they do is debit our accounts in increments to ensure they get some of their money or all. I too was confused by the Northway entry on my bank statement. I was very glad to have found this thread on the subject. Call the number, they will work with you.

I would like to know if my payday loan is paid in full, since you took the TOTAL due out at one time, instead of 2 payments. Thanking you in advance.

oh boy. You need to write a wage assignment revocation letter right away. It is your right to revoke a wage assignment at will at any time. Sonic will tell you differently, but hopefully your HR person knows their stuff. Do a forum search for a copy of a revocation letter..You need to send one to Sonic and one to your payroll. You have to act very quickly. If you need help or have any questions, you can pm me...I can help you.

I recently started the app for a cash advance loan, I declined the part allowing them to access my payroll department and told the operator to cancel my application but the have all of my ss and bank info. After reading your posts, I'm pretty scared. Did you actully get the money or did they just start taking it? Any suggestions? My bank says they can't just take it without a check number but it sounds like they do.
