Hi..so I recd a call from a John Smith who said he was with Process Servers United. Stating he was calling on behalf of Solomon and Randolph law firm. Told me I would be served w/a subpeona for 1 acct of wire fraud. Told me to call 1-877-777-9122 for addtl info..which is the # to this law firm. I have left 3 messages and no return call...no matter what time I call there is no answer. I have never recd any kind of written or verbal communication from this firm..so not sure what I should do. I am assuming it is pertaining to an old PDL that I had in 2007...I don't have any other debt...not sure if I should be worried about this or not...Thanks!

If you have not been served, and you want to be sure that no one has filed a suit against you, you should go to your local court house and use their case index. Some county court systems like Cook County, IL have an online search database. You should be able to find any case filed against you by your name. Any case for debt will most likely be filed under the civil division, but it could be something else depending on your local rules.
Someone calling you on the phone telling you they're from a process server is NOT proper service in ANY state. If you find a suit has been filed against you, get your case file, the affidavit of service from the case file, and argue improper service in your answer.

I got a call from someone who Identified as "Mr. Bronson" from Process Servers United who stated they were calling about 1 count of wire fruad. They said they had been hired by Sullivan & Randolf Firm and they would be delivering a subpoena to my work and home. They said that if I wanted to make a voluntary statement I should call 1-877-777-9122 and also gave me a case number. I looked up the the firms location, it is in North Carolina, but I live far away from there. I don't even know what wire fraud is or how I would be involved with something like that sounds like a scam is it?

this is a bottomfeeding scam.a process server will not contact you to pay a debt.this is a scare tactic.file a police report of your own for the call.then file AG,and FTC complaints against united processing.again a bottomfeeder that attempts to collect on illegal pdl's using scare tactics.debts are civil matters at best, this idiot is implying you commited a crime.file the report, and complaints.then hang up on him as he can do nothing he threaten, and it's not worth your time to even give him the time of day.
