Your friend is going to get his butt sued....citibank doesnt care what his attorney says. He may not have any assets now but he might a few years from now. Plus wages which could be garnishable...and bank accounts which can be seized.
Take the settlement if you can afford it.

51k ( because of fees etc) they offered 12.6 in 5 payments which I can do

Thank you, I called Citibank and the collection agency ARM is legit but they still show the remaining 39k balance which Citi said they would update after they are nofied by ARM - the collection agency that it is paid.
