I have a "friend" That said he would have his lawyer tell Citibank I would not pay and no to litigate because I have no assets. Meanwhile I was offered a nice settlement from Citi. That I can afford. My friend said don't pay - what should I do?

Take the settlement if you can afford it.

I really think that you are right.

Thank you, I called Citibank and the collection agency ARM is legit but they still show the remaining 39k balance which Citi said they would update after they are nofied by ARM - the collection agency that it is paid.
