Go into your bank and speak to the branch manager. Some banks will remove some of the over draft charges one time per year if you go in and explain you are having a financial hardship. It's worth a try, make sure you ask to speak directly to the branch manager.

no they've already closed the account. i got a letter from a creditor and its been submitted to chexsystems. what should i do?

You should call them and ask if they will work out a payment plan, they can and will sue you if you don't contact them.

You can't go to jail for owing a debt, just call them and speak to them about it.

So is it different for say a unpaid cellphone bill or a hospital bill. can u be sued for those. because i've gotten creditors calling me on those but was never sued. Yet i can be sued for a closed bank account?
You can be sued for unpaid utility bills like cellphone bill. Yo
You can be sued for unpaid utility bills like cellphone bill. You can also get sued for hospital bills, just as getting sued for closed bank accounts. That you have still not been sued for these must be your good luck. I think, you should try to pay these off before getting sued. If you get sued, the judgment will be entered on your credit report, and this will hurt your credit score for 7 years.
