I read alot of post from people stating that they cant get the address to pay thier debt. What reason would they have not to give you the address,if you are more than willing to send them the money you owe?
Why again,if they are a legit company,do they insist on receiving payment via Western Union? If they do plan on taking you to court, wont they have to give thier address then? Can any of you collectors shed some light on this? :? Last time I checked,a money order was just a good as cash and better than a check.
If you wished to send a validation letter, how can you do this without the address? Is this legal.since they are taking away your right to ask for validation in writing.

good point!! It does make one wonder. Although I have never had this problem---I don't talk to anyone on the phone and only respond to written correspondence only, so I have their address from when they wrote me---but I've read about alot of people in here having this problem. How does it happen? I guess CA calls your home, you answer, they try to get you to pay but tell you that you can only send it through western union??
I am really curious about the western union option too. why do so many agencies try to force you to it do it this way? Well cause they get it right away would be the obvious answer. If you tell them that you're going to put it in the mail, then you might forget or wait and put it in a week or so later---this way they have it within an hour or so. But it also costs you alot more money than a 39 cent stamp would if you just sent it regular mail and a check from your checking account.

Good point to bring up Twokid---it would seem if they wanted their money, they would want you to know where they are and have their address. I'll be interested in reading the thoughts to this. shirley

Most of the lenders who won't give me their address are the unlicensed payday loan companies. I believe they are afraid of the law finding out about them. I have found the address for all of them through info in the forum and help with my debt consolidation company. I'm not sure why some of these other "legit" lenders won't give their addresses either. I've read that some are scavenger collection agencies. They might not be licensed to collect money in a certain state. It's a good question and maybe someone will have more answers.

Shirley,

Good point about the western union thing. I won't pay any company (payday loan) via western union right now. I don't trust them. I've found some lenders forward the money to Canada. I'm not sure it can be tracked there. It makes me leery to use it for these types of places. I think a lot of companies would be happy to receive a money order. At least they are getting a payment.

I would like to add some points here:

One guest has posted comment in this forum that the collection agency he is dealing with will not accept money order, they are asking for bank account number and this is the only option the consumers have to pay them. Doesn't it sound funny?

Due to some reason this person does not have any account at present. So these collectors are demanding account number of his relatives! Why they are so keen to get one account number? Will a legit company ever do this?

yeah, that proves that they don't care what you have to do to get them their money, just do it! These are the same guys that are rude and harrass to pressure you into giving them money. You don't have a bank account, give me your dead grandmothers bank account number, you have an aunt in the nursing home, give me her number, you have a uncle in a comma, give me his number. Whatever, they don't care as long as they get the money.

Okay, I'm being a bit sarcastic now, but this is the way some of them come across...as if you should sell your first born. This is where we as the debtors have to be strong, if they want the money, it has to be under our terms. In the sense, that if we can only send a money order, thats just the way it has to be. If they want the money so bad, they will just have to accept that. Let them take you to court, you can tell the judge that they refused your form of payment.
just my opinion---Shirley

When I was in high school, one of our social studies lessons talked about a guy that went to court, and had a $25,000 fine. He brought it in a truck, all in pennies. They refused to take the pennies, so he didn't have to pay the fine. Money is money! If they want my money, they'll take it however I give it to them.

Let's think that the company is refusing a payment plan from us. OK, now what they will do..In legal terms, they can take the matter to the court. Fine, let's go there. The case will be presented in front of the judge who will be making decisions looking at both sides. Looking at our financial situation and after analyzing the monthly income, he will set only such amount that is payable by us. He will not set some extraordinary amount that is beyond reach. Remember, we were supposed to pay to the agency while dealing with them. And now, through court orders, we will be paying them. Since we have been brought in the court and are under legal observation, it is still better to pay it this way because we won't have to face the direct embarrassments that were the part of the process. Although, there are some court fees over here to be paid, but there is much peace of mind paying it this way?

We sometimes fear going to the court but if we are safe from the CA and OC harassments, doing this is much better. It's just my point of view of how I take things. Situations may vary for everyone so you need to decide which path will be easier for you.

I guess if you go to court, you can atlease get the address,my situation is a payday loan that I only owe $85 on.I want to pay them in full, but they will not give me an address, they will only except Western Union, which I will not do,They are now saying I owe $150,and I want to send a validation letter,to make sure this is the right payday lender, and not just someone one trying to collect money owed to someone else.Im in a consolidation program for all of my credit cards and the my other two payday loans, but I could not include them since I have no information or address.Again,I just wanted to pay them in full, why ,if they are legit,do they insist on Western union,I will not give them my checking account information, since I changed my account, and will never put that information out there again for anyone to get ahold of.I just want to send a money order and be done with it.I have read many others here with the same problem.I can only ask for validation of debt verbally since I can not mail it,due to no address.

Quickest-Payday-Loan.com was where I got the original loan thru, but I think they go buy many different names.I only owed $50,when I closed my checking account and then they charged the $35 fee since that did not go thru. They agreed to a $85 payment via emails, but refused to give me an address to send a money order. The call I received, was at work and I was very busy, but I dont remember them saying the name, just that I owed $150 for a payday loan, and they wanted the money sent via Western Union that day.I told them that I needed to send them a letter for validation, and If it was correct,I would seen a money order for the full amount, but they said that they are an internet company, and would not give out an address.I wanted to pay the full amount 2 months ago when the balance was only $85,now they are adding interest, but wont let me pay. That is of course if they are really the company that I got the loan thru.I have no other payday loans, except the two that are in the consolidation program, and they are sending me statements via email,so I know that it is not one of them.I want some kind of proof that I paid in full, and if I send a payment thru western union, who knows who will be getting the money.

Twokid,

Yes, they do go by several other names. I had a loan with them at one time. Let me see if I can find my loan papers with them to track down an address for you. I've been in the same position with my consolidation company. I've called them and asked for the address and some were very hesitant. Luckily, I was able to track down all the addresses that I needed with the help of T & C.
