We've been settling our credit cards and have them all settled except for one. That's bank of america. We are now about 9 months past due. For the last 6 months, BOFA has been telling us they won't take less than 30% on a $9,000 debt. Finally this past week they dropped to 25%. However, we can't afford more than 20%. They continue to refuse and are now saying they are going to sell our debt or seek legal action or other such options as of tomorrow. They indicated that as of tomorrow they will no longer have the debt in their hands. FIA is who we've been working with (part of BOFA from my understanding).

Has anyone else settled with BOFA recently, and if so how much did you settle for? By the way, that's 25% of the full debt including all late fees and interest accrued since we stopped paying them back in february. (about $900 worth of fees/interest)

I would try to work out a settlement in 3 or 4 payments if you can swing it, even if you have to borrow from relatives. They will send your account to CollectCorp. who are a nightmare!

It is really a good news that BOA has agreed to take only 25% of the loan amount. You should try to pay off the debt as soon as possible. Once your account is sold off to the collection agency, it will be very difficult for you to settle the debt. Therefore, seek out funds from your friends and family and pay off the loan.
