I have loans with Eastside lenders and Loanpoint USA. I live in Florida. I believe they are not licensed in Florida. I lost my job and want to repay only the balance of the principal that is owed. They are offering payments arrangements that exceed the principal balance. Is it legal for me to pay only bal of principal.

Both are illegal in your state. You are only responsible to pay the actual amount borrowed on the loan but that too, whenever you have the fund with you to repay them. No need to make payment arrangements with them.

Have you closed your account? Do it asap. And file cases against them with the FTC, the BBB and your states' AG. Click on the following link to know how to deal with these illegal lenders: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/illegal-pdl-dealings.html

Listen to Paul! The only way to get away from illegal PDL's is to close your bank account. Be sure that all of your dealings with these lenders is done in writing so you have a paper trail. I have one lender that is out of the country, I owe $22.00 and I've asked several times via email for them to send me a viable address and I will send the balance owed on the principle (only). It's been almost a month and I've not heard back from them. So many of these payday lenders have multiple names and address.
