My Name is Eve and I just got a call about the account I had with Regent from another Debt collections company saying I still owed $270 to them and since I hadn't made a payment it was being considered refusal to pay. I told them that I had agreed to pay Regent $90 a month for 8 months and after the final payment in November it was payed in full. And going over my prepaid credit card statements it shows that in the final 3 months the payments were going to the Kansas payment center and the rest had gone to a payment center in Denver CO, but the statements still say Regent Asset Management. I don't know whats going to on but if they call back I'm going to tell them I have copies of the recipts and ask for a fax number to send them to since I have proof I paid the debt. I'm also going to the bank that sold them the account in the first place and ask what the heck is going on with this.

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!
If you have paid off the debt, then there is no need to pay any money. If they call you again, tell them you don't owe any money to them. You can send the copies of your payment receipts to them. If they still call you, then ask them to validate the debt. I think they'll not be able to validate the debt. Anyway, if they are not able to validate it, then send a cease and desist letter to them so that they don't disturb you anymore. If they continue to contact your further, then take legal help. File a complaint with FTC or contact your State's Attorney General.

I agree with what Nelly has said. If you have paid off the dues to Regent, then you're not liable to pay the collection agency for the same account. Next time, when the collection agency calls you, ask them to validate the debt. You can even send a debt validation letter to the collection agency in order to get everything in writing. If they are unable to validate the debt, ask them to not call you further or else you may take legal actions against them.
