Someone called my elderly neighbor tonight and said something was wrong with my phone, please go over and give him a message to call 800-864-6033 regarding a red flag on his social security number. It's urgent.

I have not called this number, I have no idea who it is, my sister suggested I research it first. I had some debt problems back several years ago, and thought it may be something with a old debt. So I am asking here before I do anything about this call.

Anyone know anything about this number.

The number 800-864-6033 belongs to SIMM Associates

SIMM Associates
PO BOX 7526
Newark, Delaware 19714

They left a message on our machine that they were investigating an important matter and gave a case number. I sent them a debt validation letter and a cease and desist letter and have heard nothing since.

The collection agency can't discuss anything about your ssn# as well as your accounts with any third party i.e. your neighbors. They have the legal rights to call another person if they are unable to locate you. But anything about your account should not be discussed with them.

Jami, you should ask for a validation of accounts from the collection agency and make sure if they are having any of your past debt. Get the following details from them while they are validating your debt. I read the page in this site and picked it up for you.

If the collection agency poses threats or harassments, you have the legal rights to record them and give it to your attorney. Before you do so, check the state laws and know if recording can be done secretly or it requires legal permission of the other party. In any case, you should not be a victim of harassment and should take actions if required.
