I just received a letter from this company about an old Sears account that is at least 8 or 9 years old possibly even 10. The are offering a settlement of 167.00 even though it says I owe 1100.00.. do I pay this or not? I do not want to be sued by this company..

If the SOL has expired, you have a legal defense against any legal action they might take,. If it has additionally been more than 7 years plus 180-days from the DOFD on the OC account, if they report it to a CRA, it cant appear in your CR.
Expiration of neither of those dates prevents them from continuing to conduct collection activities.
If you are sure that those two dates have passed, you can just send them a cease communications letter under FDCPA 805(c), and forget about them.
