I doubt you will be sued....because if it is 8+ years old, it is likely out of SOL. But, you should send the company a debt validation letter if you like. But it is too old for it to be placed on your credit reports, so be careful before you do pay this.

If the SOL has expired, you have a legal defense against any legal action they might take,. If it has additionally been more than 7 years plus 180-days from the DOFD on the OC account, if they report it to a CRA, it cant appear in your CR.
Expiration of neither of those dates prevents them from continuing to conduct collection activities.
If you are sure that those two dates have passed, you can just send them a cease communications letter under FDCPA 805(c), and forget about them.

This company sued me before but it was within 2 years of charge off and the balance was 7500.00 , this is the first time in 3 years I have even received anything about this debt...I will send a debt validation letter. It hasnt been posted on my credit report in the last three years.
