How can I see who originally had the debt before LVNV and is there any way I can see ALL of the details about it, like what it was for and such?

Hello,

You're entitled to request validation of debt from LVNV (or whomever is collecting on their behalf).

Simply fax a letter to the collector, asking that they validate the debt, including the original account number, original creditor, statements and original contract.

If you believe the debt is valid, and you're not really looking for all of this information, you may simply place a call to LVNV, and they will be able to provide you with the original creditor, account number, balance, etc.

Best of luck to you!

marie is absolutely right that you are entitled to details(validation)from anybody attempting to collect.however,LVNV is a notorious JDB meaning they could be up to the third party trying to collect.in this case you demand something in writing.if you have that send a DV(debt validation)letter certified mail return receipt.
