I have 7 payday loans and was paying approximately 1800 in fees monthly. I was to the point of not being able to pay my house and car payments. Thankfully I found your website. I closed my accounts, filed complaints with the NC SAG office and the FTC (I live in North Carolina). I submitted the letter as suggested via fax and email and informed all lenders to Cease and Desist from contacting me another other method except email or USPS. Here is my list:
Paydaymax - responded
Mycashnow - reponded
FASTCASH-ADVANCE - no response some blurp and being authorized in the state of NC and the contract signed is binding
CASHONE- responded
CASHJAR - no response
PepperCash-supposedly marked my account paid in full not sure if I believe this, told me they would mark account paid in full if I responded back with I agree
ADVANCEMETODAY - no response-overpaid by $100.00

I am not worried about the last 3 because they are out of the country and I have paid them what was owed. I am worried about FASTCASH-ADVANCE. I have not heard one word from them. I am nervous!!! I have told all I would pay back principal owed with a money order or cashier's check but everyone wants a payment via Western Union. I do not feel comfortable with this, no more personal information on the web! This past Friday I started receiving calls at work from someone with a think Indian accent stating I would be arrested if money wasn't paid, using profanity, saying very obscene things. They called my office number at least 30 times even though they were told multiple times to Cease and Desist.

I am barely sleeping, not eating, worried about police showing up at home or my place of business. I have taken the steps outlined but am concerned. Can anyone offer additional advice?

Payday lending is prohibited in NC, so you are required to pay them only the principal amount. Illegal lenders won???t be able to take any legal action against you. Moreover non-payment of debt is not a criminal offense. It???s a civil case. So you can never get arrested for that. If you have any complaints against the lender, then contact with the North Carolina Attorney General. Their contact detail is as follows:
# Address - NC Attorney General's Office 9001 Mail Service Center Raleigh NC 27699-9001
# Phone - (919) 716-6400
