Welcome to the forums! We hope your time spent around here will be a pleasant one. When you signed up on this forum, it also will enrolled you for a free consultation with a debt consoldiation company. They might be able to offer you the credit monitoring service. You should be getting contacted shortly; otherwise Equifax and TransUnion are good resources.

Crhamblin, Like all other services credit monitoring service
Crhamblin,
Like all other services credit monitoring service has some cons too. The main three drawbacks of this service are-
- Most of the credit monitoring services fail to cover all the three bureaus.
- They are not very punctual. ID theft is such an accident that should be arrested at the earliest. But if the service cannot fix it timely, the purpose is not served.
- It is very expensive.
Thought it would help you to decide your way. If you wish to monitor your credit closely, why don't you avail the services offered by credit bureaus? All the three major credit bureaus have their own credit monitoring services. You can call the credit bureaus to inquire about these services.

Crhamblin,
If you're afraid of the cost associated with the service, let me tell you that you can do it yourself. There are certain steps that all the victims of ID theft should follow. It does not need any professional help. You can look at this thread to know what to do when an ID theft occurs-

If your concern is credit repairing, I would repeat the same words to you. You can do it yourself. Many of the forum members have successfully rectified the errors in their credit report. The process requires some knowledge and demands patience. If you have these qualities in you, you will definitely succeed. Best of luck.

I also want to point out that by joining a debt consolidation program, and making your payments ontime, your credit score will start to go up.
Let us know if you do decide to go with a credit monitoring program and your experience with them.

I've seen alot of posts where ppl know thier scores & wonder how they know it. call it credit score envy lol. I'm looking at truecredit(can i say that?) thru TU. Thanks Rach

Rach, please go through the link below, it describes how to raise your credit score. All you need to do is follow those steps. You will end up with a big score. Best of luck :D

When you hear someone ramble off their credit score, it's much like them rambling off their weight. They'll receive their score, probably by doing what you have done, and not do anything different. Making their payments on time, not being late on mortgage payments, not opening up any new accounts, not getting any NSFs from their bank, and so on. Chances are over time their credit score will actually increase. So when I say it's much like rambling off their weight...if you don't do anything different, it's probably going to stay the same.
I also hope that you have looked into every avenue possible. I think you mentioned in another forum post that you were looking to get a loan. Just remember that there are other oppurtunities for you.
