Need some payday loan help
Date: Tue, 04/03/2012 - 11:07
This caught me off guard as I've had the same phone number for 6 years and haven't received any calls or anything. Also I haven't seen anything in the mail relating to anything along those lines.
So I call back this Ridgeview Mediation Group and I'm told that this is in regards to a Cash NetUSA loan from 2008. I recall being in a rough spot back then and taking out a payday loan and how I had to renew that sucker constantly because I could never pay it off in full.
Well the lady I am speaking with informs me that I owe over $2000 now because of the interest on it and after talking with her a bit more about payment options, etc. she says she'll put me on hold and talk to Cash NetUSA's lawyer. She then comes back to me and tells me that if I pay $500 by Friday then we'll be squared away.
My initial thought is that because of the interest this loan has gotten extremely high and paying $500 isn't such a bad thing. However I have yet to go back through my bank statements from 2008 and see how much was borrowed and how much was paid to it.
I'm in Minnesota by the way.
So, does that sound like a good deal to anyone else? Will put me living on nothing until May but it's not like I want to be taken to court and face criminal charges.

Alright, I just went through my bank statements from 2008 to figure out when I started to get the pay day loan until it stopped. Started 7/28/2008 and the last transaction was on 12/15/2008.
All in all I ended up loaning $1600.00 from Cash NetUSA
I ended up paying exactly $2217.94 back to Cash NetUSA
This Smells Like a Scam
This is very suspicious.
First of all, Cash Net USA would send your defaulted loan to collections, where interest is no longer charged. They would have attempted to contact you long before now.
Second of all, you need to ask this "Mediation Group" to validate the debt in writing, via Postal Mail if they call again. I doubt you'll get anything.
Cash Net USA is a legal lender and doesn't use these types of scare tactics. There has been a lot of scam work going around under their name and they warn consumers of such on their website. I would get in touch with Cash Net USA (if that is the actual company you borrowed from) and find out the status of that loan.
Don't pay anything to anyone right now. Find out if this is real first! I looked up this "Ridgeview Mediation Group and this is what I found:
RIDGEVIEW MEDIATION GROUP LLC
Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman 665 Main Street Suite 300
Buffalo, NY 14203
Phone: Not Available
Acquired: 10/2011 from New York Dept of State
That looks fishy. No website, no phone number.
One thing I have learned from this forum is to verify everything! Don't let anyone scare you into paying up over the phone... ever.
Would they (being a legal lender) not have to be on this (http:/

First I apologize, the edit button isn't working for me.
But after doing some reading on this forum I have come to this following conclusion, please correct me if I'm wrong.
Since Cash Net USA is not licensed in my state I am only bound to pay off the principle of the loan. Since I have over paid on this principle they cannot legally come after me nor have any collection agency threaten to take me to court.
Is that correct?
My bank (Wells Fargo) keeps statements online for 7 years, so I can prove of every transaction with Cash Net USA and that the figures I posted a few posts above are correct.
I'm pretty sure they are licensed
I am pretty sure Cashnet USA is licensed in Minnesota. they follow all licensing standards.
Take a look at this thread:

My advice is to call them and I can almost guarantee that they will say your loan was paid in full. You are being scammed by Ridgeview.

Emailed Cashnet and waited on hold for a bit (at work, can't wait all that long) and I called Ridgeview Mediation again and they said that Cashnet sold them the debt so Cashnet wouldn't have anything to do with it. And even though I paid the total loan (with $617.94 over/in interest) and can show that with bank statements it won't do me any good unless I get a paid in full letter from Cashnet.
Please Stop Talking To ridgeview
Stop talking to Ridgeview, except for asking for a debt validation letter. Follow all of the directions here.

I am 99% sure you are being scammed by Ridgeview.
CashNet will give you a PIF I am sure. that is all you need. I checked their site and they do have a Minnesota license.
No more calling Ridgeview, unless you want them to send you a validation letter. Just follow all of the directions in Shazzer's post.
believe me, I have heard it all. The approoach Ridgeview is taking is to scare you, which is illegal. Report them to the FTC.
another buffalo chip in new york
this place is a bottomfeeder pure and simple.use that address to send a C&D letter.send it certified mail return reciept.then do not talk to them further.in fact anybody called by them needs to file a police report.again just another NY buffalo chip bottomfeeder that can't/won't do squat, but call and threaten things they can't do.

Alright thanks everyone.
I did find it odd that this is the first time being contacted and it was through my brother and mother and not me directly.
I'll be calling Cash Net USA if they don't respond to my emails prior.

Just logged into my cash net usa account, and it says that I owe $837.50 and my debt has been sold to a third party collection agency.
Gah...can't wait to get home from work and call them to see what's going on.
typical
for one since cashnet sold it their terms are not tranferable.meaning do not pay this piece of crap a dime.two calling others and disclosing that kind of info is against the law.third after sending the C&D letter file ANG complaints against this turdpile.do that and ignore them.
First - thank you all for holding my hand and walking me through
First - thank you all for holding my hand and walking me through all this. I have been working hard since my financial disaster in 2008 to get things going in the right track. It takes time and I was just starting to see some daylight and then this hits me from out of nowhere today.
Alright, so first thing is first, the C&D letter - is there a template somewhere for this? I have never had to write anything along these lines. And I send this certified mail correct?
do this
there should be a template in either soaplady's,or ohiogal's signatures.yes send it to the address provided in the earlier post, and yes send it certified mail return receipt requested.places that threaten criminal action in another state deserve nothing else.
I looked over the ones in Soaplady's sig but those seemed to be
I looked over the ones in Soaplady's sig but those seemed to be for the lenders themselves and not for a third party trying to collect a debt.
Here is what I printed out - this should suffice I hope? I'll be mailing it tomorrow morning.

Dear Debt Collector:
Pursuant to my rights under federal debt collection laws, I am requesting that you cease and desist communication with me, as well as my family and friends, in relation to this and all other alleged debts you claim I owe.
You are hereby notified that if you do not comply with this request, I will immediately file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the Minnesota Attorney General???s office. Civil and criminal claims will be pursued.
Sincerely,
looks good to me
send that baby out asap.that way when not if they violate it you can take legal action.

Alright, dropped off the letter at the post office about an hour and a half ago and sent it out via certified mail.
Next step = ignore them? or should I be filing something since they contacted my family prior to contacting me and did the whole thing of that I could be facing criminal charges and crap.
