Illegal lenders CAN take legal action against you....the defense would be that the contract is invalid due to state law.
Ok. So I'm confused now. Am I ok or do I need to be worried?

The contract that you signed on was not legit in the first place
The contract that you signed on was not legit in the first place so you don't need to worry about the rest. Lenders would need a court order to start garnishing your wages and simply put, illegal lenders can't take you to court.

Did you revoke your voluntary wage assignment and give a copy to your employer? That will cover you on wage assignment. As I said above, it possible that an illegal lender might try to sue you, the first step to getting a wage garnishment. However your defense to the court would be that the contract is flawed due to your state law. The case would then be thrown out and dismissed.
