Scammed, In Debt, and Need Help

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do. You were scammed. You fell for it and now you're paying the price. It sucks and it happens all the time. I'm sorry I can't give you any advice other than to learn from this and move on.

One more problem that may arise from this is that you'll be put on a 'fraud' list for banks. Your bank will likely close your checking account due to the balance that's owed them and you won't be able to open a new one because of it.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I feel like such a loser falling for this scam. I realize I've got to pay the price for being stupid. I'm scared, anxious, and going to pieces over it. Do you, or anyone else out there know of any kind of support groups or forums that may be able to help?
I haven't found any, so far. I'm surprised that with all the internet fraud going on there aren't any. I'm sure other people out there must feel the way I do.

You're right! This happens all the time and people don't know where to turn. It's a shame, really. I think no one wants to admit they were taken advantage of. They're embarrassed.

Thanks. Some of the sights may be very helpful. I have to look into them in greater detail. Does anyone know what I can possibly expect in the near future? I've left 2 messages with the person who originally called me from my bank, but I have not gotten any response back as of yet. I feel I have an obligation to work with the bank to do whatever I financially can to make the situation right even if I don't have much money to work with.

The worst part to this whole mess is not knowing what's happening or going to happen. Is there any way to get the bank to call me back so I can find out?

Go into a branch and talk to someone.

You should know that, if the account is negative for 90 days, they'll shut it down, report it and forward to collections. Their hands are tied there. They are required by federal and state regulations to do so.

Once it's in collections, you should be able to set up a payment arrangement with them to get it paid off.

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked the account. According to the bank the account is closed, but the balance is showing $0.00, not a negative amount.
I was trying to contact the original person who contacted me in the first place. She was in the corporate office and not in a branch. I feel that if I go into a branch and speak to a representative, they will have no idea what's going on with the account. I guess I'm trying to limit the number of people involved.

I understand wanting to limit the number of people involved, however, you need to get this squared away and she's not returning your calls. Go into a branch. There should be notes on the account from your discussion with her.

Very sad to hear this , when ever some one wants to deposit money in your account and spread to different people , think about it twice ..most of internet frauds happen this way , and i think you can't do anything about it...except paying the bank.

You should always be all eyes and ears about the slew of fraudulent activities going on over the Internet. Being aware will help you keep away from anything that carries the slightest bit of suspicion. There's not much anyone can do unless you're prepared enough to handle your own situation. You can't always count on others when it comes to watching your own back.
