America Online stopped collection activities

I contacted the BBB in Florida and explained the whole situation. Well on Friday I got a letter from AOL stating I knew this and it was in my contract, etc. However at the end of the letter they stated they cleared my balance and all collections would stop.
Yeah!!!!!! Be careful, just don't assume they cancel you even if they say they will.

Not sure if the contract is new or not. I had the account for about 4 years. I didn't request a copy of the contract or anything. But who knows with these companies. It was probably something electronic.
When I filed my complaint, there were several BBB complaints on the company. I also vaguely rememebr seeing some big case against them. Who knows.

wow, I'm with Mikey, I was wondering if the contract thing was new. Because I, too, thought it was a month to month thing and you can call up and quit anytime. I use AOL as well. Never know though. However it is set up, at least they've dropped it for you! shirley

I have chosen to use AOL a few times in my internetting "career" and it never fails that the man or I have to go through the cancellation motions twice.
A quick web search will show that this company is known for its sloppy cancellations, among other complaints.
