All,
Received 3 calls from 801 437 3150. As usual, no message(s) left behind.

Have no idea who it would be, or what they want.

A quick search indicates a Salt Lake City, UT numer, but nothing else to be found.

As always, any information greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I also just received my second call from this number.
My next referal is to the FBI

This company refuses to leave us alone. We have told them on numerous occasions to stop calling us, and to take us off of their call list. They called yet again (for the 5th time) this morning. I told them not to call again and we're not interested in what they are offering us, nor in completing their survey. The lady then proceeded to demand I place the male of the household on the phone. Extremely rude!

I did a search online for this company, and the information to file a complaint is as follows:

Mountain West Research
775 Yellowstone
Pocatello, ID 83201
801-437-3150

I would urge anyone and everyone receiving harassment from this company to file a complaint with the BBB.

And now that I have more information to go by, I'm also going to file a complaint, as it relates to the local/national NO CALL list!
I'm on both, I've sent them a DV letter, stating contact by Mail only. And today, I had 2 more phone calls, no messages.
Will let folks know what becomes of my complaint(s).

I have gotten calls from them the last 5 nights running. Tonight I got one call and told them not to call again. An hour later I got another call. I told the woman I was on the no-call list and she said they were exempt because they weren't selling anything. I told her I wanted to be taken off her list and she started asking questions about '... was I the decision maker for primary health care for someone or something...' I told her no, take me off her list and terminated the call. She was still going on about how important it was that I answer her questions. I hung up.

They ARE exempt from the do-not-call list, BUT they are not exempt from not calling when they are asked not to. If they call again, as soon as they start talking ask to speak to a supervisor. Respond to every one of their questions, with asking to speak to a supervisor.

Or have a little fun with them, and answer their questions with funny answers...lol

"Do you have health insurance?"
"No...The voices don't believe in health insurance"
"What do you do when you get sick?"
"I puke" lol

I received a call from that number tonight. The phone rang once, I picked up and nobody was there. My caller Id showed "blocked name". I have my phone set up NOT to accept blocked calls. If you have this option in your area try putting it on. They were not able to get through to me THIS TIME! Good luck!

Hey, thanks to everybody for the info on this phone number, especially Jessi. These people have been ringing my phone off the hook, but I have not been answering because my Caller ID says "Blocked Call:. I have Anonymous Call Rejection on my BellSouth Deluxe Caller ID, so I turned it on (DUH) and I won't be hearing from these people again.

In the case that you have anonymous call rejection (call block rejection?) and the number shows up as restricted or blocked it means that the company has requested that as the name on their call output. I think it's also illegal for a business to do so. Either way it's a great case for a complaint against whomever it is.

I have been getting these calls since about may 17th and they call at least once per day. There is never a person. It is just a hang up call. I used to work as a telemarketer and if you say "Take me off your list." They have to. I did surveys also. One thing that has been effective for me, when you have a person on the phone is to tape record the call. Advise the person you are recording the call, state the date and time, you name and ask them to for the company name and then as them to put you on thier do not call list. I am just getting hang up calls, but if I get someone on the line I will tape it.

Companies are using a loophole in the do-not-call law... polling/survey companies are exempt. They do a survey and then sell your number to marketers who then claim they have a previous relationship with you, because of the survey... which enables them to make marketing calls.

There should be a feature available from your phone company that allows you to add a small list of numbers to be blocked automatically. This is different than anonymous call rejection because it will block the number if it shows up on that list. That in combination with the anonymous call rejection should shut these guys down nicely.

I have fun with them even if it totally ticks me off. When they ask a question you ask one back. They learn nothing and I'm happy pissing off the owner since they aint getting anything that is any value. OR, if its a woman, I ask for **** or a mere BJ to make this call worth it. It s always funny to hear the response. In my opinion if they bother me I bother them. :) happy day!

I received 3 calls from them. They refused to tell me anything only that they wanted to talk to my husband. The name the gave me was Western Research and that they were a charity organization. When I pointed out the fact that they call themselves a research co. they insisted that they needed to talk to my husband. Is there a national BBB that I can call?

If you want to file a complaint, you can do that with the local BBB in your area. You can also send a copy to the AG's office and fill out this complaint form. All unfair activities and wrong presentation of the accounts must be reported to the authorities immediately. Once large number of complaints has been files, the legal process begins against the ones breaking the laws.

I let all calls go to the answering maching. They hang up and dont leave a message. The calls have slowed way down since I dont answer. I have caller ID and it tells me 801. No one should answer questions to surveys over the phone. too many ID thiefs.

i rec'd a call today and i have the privacy director, but it does not go through that b/c the phone number is released. i did a reverse phone look up on the white pages and it is a number out of utah, and then i googled and found this website. apperently alot of people are being harassed by this company. i didn't answer, and they didn't leave a message.... i also have call block, so i *60 their number, and i won't be bothered again...... but there should be some kind of lawsuit or something..... calling at work, even if it is a creditor you owe money to, is illegal if you tell them not to call you there

Collectors can be legally stopped from making the phone calls after you send them the cease and desist letter. This letter has a legal effect after the company receives your request. They must not make any calls in the future except to notify about their legal actions. If they still continue with their collection attempts over the phone, this will be a violation of the cease and desist rule implied on the collectors. You need to consult an attorney dealing with lawsuits of fdcpa violations and file a case against the company. Here is a template of the cease and desist letter. You can use it as per your requirements and send it to the company's mailing address. Send it through certified mail with return receipt requested and keep a copy for records.

Read more about the legal ways to be followed by a debt collector when contacting the people in debts. They must not violate the federal laws put in the FDCPA.

We took a call from this outfit. They are political operatives doing a "push poll" for the Republican Party.

I registered a complaint with www.donotcall.gov. The number is linked to Mountain West Research Center. Local number in Pocatello, ID 208-232-1818. I emailed them to stop contacting me and told them I had reported them.

Way to go bookworm. The rest of y'all should consider following suit, and seeing if this works. My own big problem with these clowns is that I don't answer ANY calls I don't recognize, and I have people call me at home about membership in a professional organization I chair. So, as a result of clowns, I miss some potential membership, it's a bit irritating. I am trying all the tricks I've read above, hopefully they'll all work.

To carrie, Call the federal trade commission (FTC) they should be listed in the phone book. It will take about 10 min. to register a complaint they will give you a complaint #, keep it for a year. However(right away) send them A registerd letter with the complaint #, telling them to stop the calls, if they dont; call the FTC. and they will shut them down if there are enough complaints.

Here is a new one for you to try.

This is the address for the site for this research company, Mountain West.
It give a listing of their whole board of directors, their addresses and phone numbers and a photo.
Next time you get a call after you've asked them to stop start calling these people and complaining.

Thanks to you all, I now have answers to questions I didn't know I had until I saw this number on my Vonage account. I Googled it and arrived at your site. Now I also understand those pestiferous "survey" calls that always come at inconvenient moments. Thank you for saving me time and stress.

Never answer any questions asked over a phone, if they cannot verifie what company they work for. If they will not find you a supervisor, Tell them, this is a fair and legal warning.
You may be exempt from the do not call list, but I have rights to who does call here. And I am telling you Do Not Call again, or the Phone Company and the State Police will be checking you out, if you call again! And Hang up.

I refused to pay a final bill with ATT Wireless [I won't bore-boar you with the details.
Heres what I do is put the number in my address book on my phone and call it from NEVER [meaning never answer].
If I have nothing better to do I answer anyway and say "Hello, Please Hold"
Put the phone down and they soon hang up.
I feel just loike a Gov Agency!

Why even answer at all?
If I answered and told them off as many of you suggest I bet my Blood Pressure goes up.
When you know who it is "DON"T GIVE THEM THE PLEASURE OF ANSWERING" Put them on hold and let your phone sit!
Their automatic machines detect an answering machine and the only time a human even gets involved is when the phone is answered. Best to put them on hold to waste "their" time.
God Bless "CALLER I.D."
