First off...thanks Stanley for helping figure out who WW&R are. Has anyone had any dealings with them? I have two Sears accounts that I have in a debt settlement program. I hadn't heard anything from either account for a year. Then in February...LNVN Funding bought both accounts. They first turned them over to National Action Financial Services for collection. I sent NAFS requests for validation on both accounts. I never received validation for either account. Then this month WW&R began calling about the smaller account. They don't seem to have all their facts strait. They call my phone number, but send all mail to the debt settlement company I am working with. They claim they didn't know the settlement company was involved, yet they have their address, and don't seem to have mine. In communications with them they have given two completely different account numbers. One is correct. The other is not even close. The amount owed also has been different. I know it is possible for it to go up, but it was actually lower on the 24th than the amount they gave on the 23rd. The debt is mine, and I hope to negotiate a settlement with them soon. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any dealings with them? Are they willing to settle for less than what's owed? Do they often file lawsuits? I've heard that most collector's will usually settle before a suit ever happens. Please share your expreiences with WW&R.

Thanks,
NDebt

I have been dealing with these guys, sort of. I sent a debt validation letter, and never recieved a response. The letter I sent also said not to call me anymore, to only contact me by mail, and they still call, about 5-6 times per day. I just ignore the calls. They were extremely rude the first time I ever spoke to them, and I never will again.

Thanks for your replies. Yes I agree that these people at WW&R are clowns. I would expect this from a CA, but I would think a law firm would be better prepared as far as basic information before they contacted me. These people are a joke. The girl I spoke with sounded really young, and even nervous about talking to me. Thought I was suppose to be the nervous one?? Anyway, all worked out. My debt settlement company is in negotiations with them. Hopefully we'll settle tomorrow at 45-50%. They are cooperating so far.

They only use the "Law Firm" as a psychological element, and most importantly, they don't have to be licensed as a collector. A word to the wise, any "attorney" who contacts you about a debt, you have the right to speak to. If a lawyer's name is on the letterhead, you have the right to speak to that lawyer regarding the matter.

Check with your state's statutes of limitations before you pay these people. These crooks such as LVNV purchase a $2000 debt for perhaps $10. You will only be enriching them, and paying will do no good to your credit report.

I might also add, that even though debt collector attornies don't have to be licensed as a collection agency, they -are- covered under the fdcpa and your states laws.

curlycarl,
I did try to register on this forum, but something must have gone wrong. I'll try again.
