I have been dealing with these guys, sort of. I sent a debt validation letter, and never recieved a response. The letter I sent also said not to call me anymore, to only contact me by mail, and they still call, about 5-6 times per day. I just ignore the calls. They were extremely rude the first time I ever spoke to them, and I never will again.

This firm usualy works on behalf of LVNV/Sherman. They are real clowns, staffed by what seems to be high school students, and have a very high turn over rate. Send another letter to them, return reciept, and threaten litigation if they don't stop calling.

Yes, they also prefer out of court settlement. It also helps the debtors prevent judgment enter into their credit file.
Thanks
Thanks for your replies. Yes I agree that these people at WW&R are clowns. I would expect this from a CA, but I would think a law firm would be better prepared as far as basic information before they contacted me. These people are a joke. The girl I spoke with sounded really young, and even nervous about talking to me. Thought I was suppose to be the nervous one?? Anyway, all worked out. My debt settlement company is in negotiations with them. Hopefully we'll settle tomorrow at 45-50%. They are cooperating so far.

They only use the "Law Firm" as a psychological element, and most importantly, they don't have to be licensed as a collector. A word to the wise, any "attorney" who contacts you about a debt, you have the right to speak to. If a lawyer's name is on the letterhead, you have the right to speak to that lawyer regarding the matter.
Check with your state's statutes of limitations before you pay these people. These crooks such as LVNV purchase a $2000 debt for perhaps $10. You will only be enriching them, and paying will do no good to your credit report.

I might also add, that even though debt collector attornies don't have to be licensed as a collection agency, they -are- covered under the fdcpa and your states laws.
curlycarl,
I did try to register on this forum, but something must have gone wrong. I'll try again.

I think the primary purpose of these guys is collections, not litigation...that would make them a CA.
